hi i just bought a 1983 280 zx i replaced the tps because the car was stalling out and i was told that would fix it. it didnt when i try to turn the key nothing happens after 20 or more times sometimes it will start.and stall out. the volt meter for the battrry goes up and down.please help please

Good afternoon everyone. I am in need of your help again. This weekend took the z out for a ride and it got hot so put the tee tops back on and turned on the ac unit. The air was only coming out of the floor vents. Switched the controller over to vent then heat and then defrost and still only out via the floor. I have removed the radio and the air flow contoller. My '83 280ZX has begun acting very strangely. On start-up (cold) it runs normally, but as it warms up it starts to bog if you accelerate past 3,000 rpm. The hotter it gets, the worse the bog. Through trial and error I have found that if you turn off the key while driving, and turn it right back on again, the problem dissappears......til the next time, which could be 5 seconds later, or 15 minutes later. I think I've narrowed the problem down to either gas or electric (). Seriously, I was leaning towards a bad coil as the existing coil gets rather hot to the touch when the engine is warm. anyone have any different speedo gears for a 5 spd, somewhere between 77 and 83. Have white installed, boy just got poped for 63 in a 45 SAID he was doing 45 by the speedo who knows. But anyway got a bid on a blue and another white on ebay but trying to round up others so I can get this thing close to accurate! Okay, so i took my 77 280Z into the shop to get the ball joints replaced as well as my front struts. While it was there, a fuel hose connecting to my fuel filter apparently had a bit of a leak, so they tightened down the clap. I got the car back today and now it will not idle any slower than 2300rpm. I tried adjusting the idle screw as well as looked around for anything obvious. Aside from tightening that clamp, they didn't do anything else under the hood. Before I took it in I had no problems like this. I was idling at 800rpms nothing was wrong. I took it back and had them look at it and they cannot figure out whats wrong. Anyone here have any suggestions as to w…

I just got a 260z, in really good condition. It has some quirks. For example, although it drove to my house, i cant get it started. My dad said it may be the soilnode? I know very little about cars. Any ideas? Also, how do i figure out the value in case i want to sell it? Thanks.

have a 77 280z and was cruising down the highway and had to get on the brakes pretty hard due to incredibly slow car on the offramp, she was purring like a kitten until the slowdown then started running horrible, would barely remain running. while running there was a real strong fuel odor and black smoke coming from the tail pipe. got her home and pulled the spark plugs and one was real black and there was oil in the plug hole. thinking blown piston rings maybe? anyone had this problem? thoughts, ideas?
