Please help me! I am a relatively new member and I need to know how bad this is. I was fitting my headers to the head and when I got them into place I noticed that one of the exhaust flanges rubs the engine mount bracket. It looks like the headers go all the way on and are situated in the right place, but it touches that bracket. Is this going to cause a problem with vibrations while driving or hitting bumps?

After I run for 8-10 miles with the A/C on the vehicle starts to surge. Either losing ignition or fuel too lean/rich. Turn off A/C immediatley starts running fine. Turn a/c on vehicle surges. I can turn the thermostat up to high and the surging continues but that should eliminate anything electrical with the compressor and it isn't seizing up. Vehicle runs normally when first using a/c needs certain amount of run time for problem to arise. I looked at all the vacuum hoses I could find and they appear to be sound. Car is an 81 turbo with a 5speed conversion, 138K on the clock. Runs really nice other than the a/c problem. Believe injectors/fuel pump okay cause I ca…

(1) I've looked through the FSM and can't find this panel, nor whatever lays beneath. (2) Is this the original fuel pump? (3) I see another opening, is something missing? (if so, what) I've got a constant whine, once the oil pressure starts to raise, coming from the back. I saw at AtlanticZ a tip about using felt as vibration insulation, so I tried it, thinking that was the problem-no help. Hence the voyage under the tank and these discoveries.

I don’t have a hazard switch/cant find one…and the turn signal power runs though the hazard. So I connected the 2 center green wires in the wiring diagram for the turn signals. Now the turn signals work correctly when I click left or right but when it’s in the center both flash (on the turn signal flasher…. NOT the hazard flasher…I have 2 different flashers so I can heard the difference) It shouldn’t be too hard but what do I need to do to prevent it from flashing when centered? (IE how dose the hazard switch allow power to go to the left and right but not when centered when hazard switch is off?)

Slap me on the hands, I've been bad. I popped out my old, malfunctioning VR and popped in a brand new Niehoff one, thinking I was gettin' a steal (at a cold 35.99 where could I have gone wrong)... Except I forgot the first rule of parts buying: You get what you pay for. Now my electrical stuff all seems to be...well... "hot" I guess. I first noticed it when I pulled the key out of the ignition after a ... I dunno... 15/20 minute jaunt? The key itself was rather warm. I felt the ignition cylinder, and sure enough, that was very warm too. I felt the guages, and yes, those were warm as well, even my aftermarket stereo was warm! I drove around some more, and before I knew it,…

Hey guys, Just finished the brakes and suspension on my 74 260z. And trying to figure out what I want to do. The ultimate goal, however long it will take, is a chevy engine swap with a very nice daily driver and take to shows a lot. I have some transportation whenever I need it right now, but that could change and I might need the Z... but thats not a definite. So some things I was thinking about was: 1) Pay to get car tuned, and the drivetrain lubed and stuff so car can be driven daily. Then do bodywork. 2) Or start stripping the car to start working on the bodywork. I just can't make up my mind...

I've had another incident. Imagine, if you will... I'm on my way to work and I'm getting off on my exit, as I approach my turn (I have the clutch in) I take a quick gaze across my dash and see that the red LED on my voltometer reads "charge" indicating that the engine isn't running. I look to my tach. and sure enough this is the case. I quickly turn over the starter and the engine fires back up. I cruise down the street about 20 feet then take another turn, I press in the clutch and again, the engine dies. The only difference this time, is that all of the gauges on the dash are completely flatlined (no reading on the voltometer). So naturally when I tried to crank, nothin…

Hi I have a 73' 240z that I am fixing up and I know little about cars, ...this is a learning experience for me. I have read about the dreaded "flattop" carbs and since mine were not working anyway, I have decided to replace them, but I have no Idea what to replace with. I have found a few kits to exchange them, but I don't know which I should buy so that it works best with my engine(stock L24).Any suggestions???? Here are the links to the options I found: Weber DGV Carburetor Kit: http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/PFFC02/11-3005 Holley Four Barrel Carburetor Conversion: http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/CTGY/PFFC04 or the ztherapy SU "roundtop" rebuilt carbs in the…

I bought the 79 280Z for my Step daughter she has had it for 6+ months and it has ran great. The other day her uncle drove the car bought some gas, right after that it died. I went by replaced the fuel filter ( it looked like it had honey in it) the car now will idle, it has 30 PSI fuel pressure @ idle and 38 with the engine off. The readings were taken on the engine side of the fuel filter. I can spray carb cleaner in the air breather and the car will run fine and rev nicely. So I know it's a fuel issue. If I turn the key on for a few seconds then crank the car it idles fine for a few seconds then struggles to idle. If you hold the gas down it you can hear it Moan and ba…
