Hi, I have had no luck trying to get hold of the grommet that goes on the firewall where the heater matrix pipes come through. It is not the two donut type ones on the earlier cars (up to 1973 I think), this is for a 1978 260z. It is a one piece grommet, held in place by a metal plate. (The metal plate looks like a smaller version of the blanking plate for the a/c on the firewall). I can't find a part no. listed on my microfiche, my good source in the UK had no luck, and I have tried the likes of Banzai Motorworks, ebay, its not listed in my MSA catalogue. Can someone help with a part no. or a proven source for this part. Cheers Ian

...for the tach not working? I have just resurrected my car after 12 years of sitting. In fact, I just got her registered yesterday and cannot wait to take her out again when it's not raining. All of the guages work well (I haven't really checked the clock) but the tach doesn't do a thing. I am thinking that maybe a connection is loose, or not attached, when I got the thing there were a LOT of disconnected looms. Any/all comments/help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I recently purchased a N-66 head from a Nissan/Datsun inventory liquidator on E-Bay. He says it is the equivalent to a 260Z head, and it is NOS. How could I go wrong. Have an F54 short block next to my tired 240Z in Scottsdale, maybe a quick cure? xstates@verizon.net

I have a 1973 240z that had triple Webers on it, and I am replacing these with stock 3 screw SUs. The rod that goes from the firewall to the carbs is too short and it looks like the rod that I need would have to be somewhere near 12 inches long. I'm not sure what modifications the previous owner made to the linkage, but shouldn't a stock 1972 linkage rod be the right size? Or was the 1973 linkage setup on the firewall different than the 1972? In other words, do I need to just fabricate(weld in an extension) what I need from my present rod, or will the stock linkage rod from a 1972 be the right length? If the stock rod will work, does anyone have a spare one? Thanks,…

I just recently bought all new tires because the front right one was worn bad on the outside of the tread. Now when I get to about 60 mph the car starts to float or wobble from side to side in the front, kinda feels like the front right tire is just flopping around. I hope thats a good explanation. Does anyone know what would cause this? Help!

Don't mean to beat a dead horse but I wanted to bring up the dashboard restoration again. The USA dashboard restorations quoted me $575 to do the dash and if I do it at the same time $195 to do the console ($250 if I don't). I have read the previous threads/debates on the USA vs Australia groups and now have some reservations about the USA group. I get the impression the quality is up to par. Any thoughts? As to the console, I purchased a replacement from MSA a couple of years ago and sent it back because of the quality (flimsy, some other blemishes). Thanks again.

I just installed a new 240z clutch to my 240z flywheel, which is now matted to my 280zxt engine I just got working today. I went to go for a ride and the clutch is sliping horribly. I mean the car will not go pull past 25mph. And that's being very sensitive to the gas. I bled the fluid well---I think. Are these clutchs self-ajusting or am I missing something here? Ahhh, any thoughts on the matter will be helpful. Thanks everyone looking.

I have a 72 240z. After the car sits overnight, the starter turns over slowly. The starter is new and so is the battery. When I charge up the battery overnight, the starter turns over quickly. I have heard these cars have some electrical issues. Any insight on what else could be draining my battery? Thanks.

On my early 240z there were small plastic clips that help the inspection door lids closed. On the later 240z they were switched to metal. My plastic ones have cracked and are broken off. Does anyone know where to get new ones or am I forced to use a later door with metal clips? Thanks.
