Don't mean to beat a dead horse but I wanted to bring up the dashboard restoration again. The USA dashboard restorations quoted me $575 to do the dash and if I do it at the same time $195 to do the console ($250 if I don't). I have read the previous threads/debates on the USA vs Australia groups and now have some reservations about the USA group. I get the impression the quality is up to par. Any thoughts? As to the console, I purchased a replacement from MSA a couple of years ago and sent it back because of the quality (flimsy, some other blemishes). Thanks again.

I just installed a new 240z clutch to my 240z flywheel, which is now matted to my 280zxt engine I just got working today. I went to go for a ride and the clutch is sliping horribly. I mean the car will not go pull past 25mph. And that's being very sensitive to the gas. I bled the fluid well---I think. Are these clutchs self-ajusting or am I missing something here? Ahhh, any thoughts on the matter will be helpful. Thanks everyone looking.

I have a 72 240z. After the car sits overnight, the starter turns over slowly. The starter is new and so is the battery. When I charge up the battery overnight, the starter turns over quickly. I have heard these cars have some electrical issues. Any insight on what else could be draining my battery? Thanks.

On my early 240z there were small plastic clips that help the inspection door lids closed. On the later 240z they were switched to metal. My plastic ones have cracked and are broken off. Does anyone know where to get new ones or am I forced to use a later door with metal clips? Thanks.

I need some serious help. The hood latch release has broken. The handel and the wire just pulled out. I tried pulling on the sheeth but that would do anything. Any idea how I can pop the hood now?

Well, Here's another part that seems to be hiding on the parts CD. I need to get the # for the dip stick tube that goes into the block on an '83 L28. I imagine it's the same on all L28's. TIA, Marty

Hi everyone, I'm a noob from Indianapolis, In. I just picked up a decent 77 280 z 6cyl, 5 speed. It will start in either, and run ragged, but will not start at all w/o either...where should I start... I did a big search of the site and have a few ideas, but wanted to post the specific symptoms, and say hello to you. I love this car and have wanted one ever since I delivered one from Atlana Ga to longview Tx back in 93. Thanks for your help.

Greetings All, First let me say thanks for all the assistance. I've been quietly hanging around for a little over a year, and in that time you guys have helped me to avoid learning about my Z the hard way. Hopefully, some day soon I'll have enough experience to interject productively. Anyway, I am having a problem with the driver's side window regulator. It will not roll up. The last couple of times it did work there was a notchy feel to the beginning of the cranking. Now it catches a little, just enough to get the window up about 1/8", and then it spins. So, the question: are the regulators serviceable or do I need to replace the whole unit?

Ok, so I’ve got this nagging question I have a switch on the dash (check photos) that is nowhere in either the service manual or owners manual. What the switch does is act as a choke. When the switch is set to the dot, the car runs fine (if not a little rich), switch it over and the car fumbles and tries to die, even while driving. According to my Owners Manual, this switch SHOULD be a headlight washer switch; something I don’t have. If this is for the choke, which I believe it to be, how would I adjust it? I’ve fiddled with the Idle RPM, but the car will not idle high enough with the switch in the off position. Very odd. The item in question here is #9, located bo…

edit: apparently, according to another thread, I may mean afterfire here. unclear to me... So the short version of the story is that my car backfired VERY loudly on the way to work this morning and now has a clearly different sound. I was close to work so I kept driving (if not for the difference in sound, it was running pretty well) and took a peek. A tertiary glance gid not reveal an elmer fudd-esque banana peeling tail pipe or any other obvious damage... should I be concerned? Obviously I need to get the muffler off to take a closer look, but it is my daily driver, so I need to make a call on whether or not it is safe to drive. The longer version of the story... th…

OK, I have the books, I have the diagrams and my car just backfired a split in my muffler... so it's time for me to bite the bullet and tune the damned thing. I have never done something like this, but I am confident in my ability to learn. That said, it seemed prudent to ask a couple of questions here, because I am a fan of free advice =) First thing, I want to make sure I have all the tools I need. IN addition to the basics, I am getting ready to order my sync and adapter. I am pretty sure I have the correct ones, but I would rather be corrected (and possibly ridiculed) publicly than get the wrong things: http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/TE/60-9990 http://www.…
