Was wondering if anyone knew about 4spd auto conversions, Im sure i saw a faq on this website a while ago, but i cant seem to find it, I have an 280zx and was thinking of installing a 4spd auto gearbox, I have done some reading and it appears the gearbox from a 300c or earlier 300zx (with the vg30e engine) can be made to work in a 280zx, Apparently its got the mechanical, not computer controlled lockup, Anyone know how i can get this box this to fit? Also - i have a 1986 VL Commodore with 4spd auto lying around, anyone know if this gearbox can be used in the 280zx? I have been told that it can, with a change of bellhousing, but wasnt to certain if any other mods were requ…

Okay. So almost done- I got the trans back in and was getting ready to jack it up and bolt the mount to the chassis. Driver side retainer is stripped or something bcause the bolt will not seat at all. Bolt is okay, its the piece that is slightly mobile in the chassis. So how screwed am I. Any thoughts on how easy this will be to work around. Will I need to get a welder involved etc. Thoughts please. After sorting out the EFI problems I had previously, got the car back together and all was well. Latest problem that's just developed is the fuse for tail/dash lights keeps blowing. Anyone have any pointers on where to start looking? Everything seemed fine Thursday night, cars been out once and came back with the negative terminal of the battery sitting on the manifold, but this shouldn't cause any issues, should it? Theoretically, it should only be acting as another earth, correct? When I first turn the lights on, you can see the volt gauge drop right down until the fuse blows. Had a check the other night, using a multi meter. It's earthing out at the tail and park light…

Hey all, I am in the process of moving my diff back into the later corrected position. The problem I'm having is that the front crossmember will not line up. I have the curved rear tranverse(?) mount and the later moustache bar. Am I supposed to be using a later mount insulator? I have the 1970-1971 model. Am I supposed to turn it around? There is a very minimal difference if I do. The other option is just to pry it and jack it into place???? Help!

Hello, Just installed 82 turbo afm on 78 datsun z. Car starts and idles great. When you push on gas, it sputters and white smoke comes out the back. Is the car running rich? i tryed to lean out by turnning or twisting the gear clockwise. Any help would be great thanks, jay

I need some professional opinions here, heres my problem: Last year I had new floor pans, rockers, and rails put into the car. I got a really good price and the guy came recommended from someone at work. After he quoted me, it turned out to be more work than he thought, but he gave me the price he quoted and his guy did the work between jobs. All good so far. I got the car towed home and put it in the garage. I saw it alot at the shop, but didnt see it with the doors on till after it got towed home. I put it in the garage for winter then I just now noticed the gap on the drivers side between the bottom of the door and the rocker is a bit much. The passenger side is ok,…

Howdy, does anyone know what the bottom right fusible link is for on a 78. It is the one when your are facing the fusible links on the passenger side the one on the bottom right. On mine it is burning out and smells blown and the insulation is coming off but it still has a connection to both sides. Also I bought a MSD 8200 chrome coil, could that be it and has anyone ever used one on a 78 and had no problems? Thanks Also, my tach starting fluctuating after I put the MSD in!

Hey all, I am in the process of restoring the interior of my 72z. I removed the radio bezel and the fuel/amp guage as well as the clock and then attempted to start my car to move it and nothing happened. Nothing electric in the car works except the hazzards. all fuses are in tact and the battery is good. Any ideas?

well recently, like as of today, my z started acting really weird, i turned my car on today and let it warm up alittle, everything is running fine and smooth, all gauges read great, no over heating, nothing at all, sounds smooth, then all the sudden it almost dies, like as if the battery is running low or something, it starts to try and shut off like every 3 mins or so, the battery is fine, the altenator is brand new, im thinking maybe theres a chance its the silinoid, ive been having problems with it in the last 4 months, i would drive my car somewhere and then shut off , then try to turn it right back on and nothing, it just sits there, no noise or anything not even it …
