Hey Z people! What is the best Z car radiator to put into a 240 Z? I have an L28 in there that puts out some pretty good heat. I've read some posts about putting 80's camero radiators in there but I'd rather put a Z radiator in. will a ZX radiator fit? Is the turbo radiator better? Any infor would be a great help. Later-

Good news is my 72 car runs, bad news is that it misses on all cylinders. I have cleaned and checked and double checked all grounds. During the rebuild I replaced the starter, alternator, coil, distibutor, spark plugs and wires. I have rebuilt webers which are sync'd and operating fine. The call starts right up and is very driveable but it misses. I wired it up per Century Performance "new" hook-up diagram. They said that I must have NO less than 8 volts at the negative side of the coil during idle and I have 5 volts. They said this is the problem. I have had a second set of eyes look at it to make sure I didn't hook it up wrong but we think its right. I also checked the …

Anyone know how to set the static timing on a 280z 78. I have everything in the right spot but the rotor is not lining up with the #1 spark. I had this problem before when I was putting the distributor in and I just turned the distributor drive gear two notches counterclockwise but I want it right this time. I have the drive gear perfect but when the distributor is in, the plate doesnt line up with the locking screw hole and the plate is turned as far as it will go, what do I do. I was hoping if I just adjust static before starting the engine I could get it to fit in. Also there is a mark on the distributor cap, does this indicate #1?

Hi, First of all, just want to say please forgive lack of knowledge, I did have a 1972 240z that I purchased in the 80's, and know a little about them, but I just bought this one. I am also a female who wishes she would of paid more attention when all my guy friends were tearing apart and rebuilding their z's back in the day. I am looking forward to learning, though. I have a 1971 240z series 1 that is all original and in very good shape. Very little rust, interior is excellant except for drivers seat bottom, and previous owner cut holes in the back deck (arrgh). I am the third owner, second owner never drove it. It has been garaged. It is an automatic, which of cour…

My 70 240z with unilite dist. and promaster coil is not getting spark. It hasnt ran since the L24 was reinstalled. I do have the ballast resistor and just ordered a new one online to see if that was the problem(much smaller than one that i had). I tested my module and it was bad, so ordered a new one of those thinking that was the problem. After hooking up per instructions, when cranking no spark and the ballast resistor begins to smoke and is pretty hot. I have it grounded correctly and wired 12v one side and then to + coil other side. Would a bad coil cause the ballast resistor to get prety hot and smoke... either no one knows or I must be the first with this problem.…

I just recently replaced my 260 style balance tube on my 73 240z with an orignal style 240 balance tube that didn't have the water lines and egr and emission stuff. The problem is that now since I have replaced the crank pulley and the balance tube, I used about half a tank driving about 40 miles. I used to average about 185 miles on one tank (even though that is not really good either). The car has upgraded to ZT S.U. carbs. So my question is why has my gas mileage gone down so much. Do I need to reset the timing, blance the carbs.. or should I go back to the other balance tube?? Please help. -thanks

hello all. i've just recently bought a 1976 280z. my question is when it is in gear the shifter rotates around as if it was in neutral, but its not and still drives like that. so i guess to form it in a question what could that be? i'm not what to even start on, being that this is the first z i've ever owned and worked on.

hi people, I have purchased a weatherstrip kit from V.B recently, I removed the old rubber and took the car to a body shop for some rust treatment.. what is concerning me, I didnt have the outer hatch seals before and I dont know how are they fitted, when I received the new ones (2 on the sides and one U shaped on top arround the two upper corners) I was confused from the fitting of those parts, I already went searching for older posts but I'm not sure of what i read, I would appreciate if somebody has couple of pics of the installation of the outer rubber seals of the hatch shoing the profile of the rubber attached to the lip of the body.. thanx!

Does anyone know exactly what options the "Sports Appearance Package" had on the 78 280z? How do you tell if they are aftermarket or original? Is there a difference in the VIN# or anywhere else? Any idea how they were distributed to dealers or were they added on at the dealers? I know the "Black Pearl" had the SAP, but am interested in getting a car in another color with a SAP option. Thanks--Stephani

I am having challenges with my 70 Z and blowiing out my fuse for my gauges and marker lights. I started having this problem a few weeks ago . When I change the fuse, start the car and let it idle, no problem. When I rev up the engine, the fuse usually blows and none of my gauges works (other than speedo, of course), and my marker lights are out. Not being much of an electical genius, any sure-fire steps I should take to find the problem? Thanks, Stephen
