Does anyone know what the part # is for a 78 thermo time switch. I dropped my thermostat housing and the connection broke:disappoin . I was testing it before it broke and I wasnt getting good readings anyways and on top of that the bolts broke of in the bottom thermostat housing part, if its not one thing its another:sick: . The #'s on mine are A23-601000 and it says 19.5 degrees C and 9 sec. It also has 9315 and JECS on it. I just want to know if this is the right thermotime switch. Thanks

This is a "Help Me" cause I can't drive the car and my truck is on it's last leg. Need right hand tail light 3 wire socket for brake and brake light, it's a 78 but I think any Z will work(someone know off the top of their head?) "My" parts car at the junk yard has been crushed. Anyone have a parts car laying around that can send this to me? I was going to find the problem with the light and the socket acted like it had a small bomb in it when I twisted the bulb out. PM if you will, will PayPal you for socket and Express Mail. Thanks in advance.

My early 260 is giving me fits. The problem is a wierd one to nail down. The car starts right up then in 5 to 10 seconds it dies? Ok sounds like fuel delivery Nope guess again! The bowls on my 72 carbs are full. Both fuel pumps are working 5 pounds of pressure at carbs. Brand new filters, lines , Z therapy carbs Ive tested the ignition circuit at every point i can find per the fsm and 3 other books on this car.Seems ok.It does have the early 74 ign system. Maybe i should upgrade to the 79 80 ign system.Lots of parts on the old one .

Is there a big difference between 1980 flat top pistons and 81', I looked up piston rings for both years and there is a difference between the rings. The 80' one uses the same rings as a 78, but the 81' uses the same rings as an 82'. The reason I ask is because I am buying some flat tops off of someone on this site but am not sure if they are 80' or 81' flattops. I was hoping to use the same rings from the rebuild I have already done but am not sure if I can. Thanks

My 77 now only blows out of the center vents. I took the dash apart replaced all vacuum lines and checked cables. How do I continue to trouble shoot what is probably a vacuum / solinoid /diaphragm (bottom of blower motor) problem?

I just replaced my auxillary air regulator to solve my problem of high idle when coasting but now I have a new problem. The car now emits black smoke and coughs and sputters while trying to drive (just around the lot). This problem didn't exist before we replaced the air regulator. What is causing this new problem? I just put new plugs in today and it's still running rich.

This is the second time I have posted this. There is a place in virginia (chesapeake) called East Coast Z, its a Z junk yard. Barry is the owner and has over 400 Z's to choose from. His prices are fair and he ships to anywhere. Give him a call @ (757) 543-7168. Hope this helps. Ken wing

82 280zx turbo... runs fine... new alternator and all new fuel system components along with cap and rotor, plugs and wires. car starts up good and idles fine in park. u can rev the engine and everything it all sounds nice. then u put it into drive and give it some gas, it moves boggingly a few feet then dies. car starts right back up and is accompanied by a squeeling noise when u step on the gas....sounds like alternator belt. the squeeling doesnt go away till u put it in drive, give it some gas, and the car instantly dies. ive heard this could be the transmission modulator.... anyone had a problem like this??? i really need help

I was working on my 74 260z and I put the battery in. I connected up the passitive and the negitive came in contact with the negitive one. I then hooked up the car and a battery fusible link burnted. what else do I have to check to see if it is ok? What else would be effected by this? The car was in the lock possition and nothing was on in the car.

I am looking for answers here .I have a 9/77 buildt 280z 2+2, because of the late year manufacture, I can assume that it is conscidered a 78. Any way It does no have a catalytic converter installed. It has a hood sticker that says non catalytic, but if I remove the hood for another one what tells the MVD that it does not require one and that I just didnt take it off? I know about the floor temp sensor and the light in the center dash just below the vents on the left opposite of the fuel light and none of those are installed ,but what tells the MVD that this is a non catalytic car, is there some where else that it is spelled out? any one out there got any ideas??????
