Alrighty guys, yet another fuel sending unit/gauge problem at hand! I have searched through both CZCC, ZDriver, ZCAR, and HybridZ and haven't been able to find a solid answer for my problems. Here is basically the story/symptoms: A few of you may have seen my thread on my recent purchase of a Fairlady 240Z that sat for 20 years in a covered shed-area in the moutains of Santa Cruz. When I first got the car the fuel gauge was reading about 3/4 at a full tank, however the tank was quite rusty so I had it professionally repaired and sealed by the Radiator Doctor (San Jose, CA, they did a great job for $285). I reinstalled a new fuel tank sending unit, o-ring, and lock plate…

I’m looking to upgrade my tachometer in my 73. My current tach needs recalibration. Restoration of my tach is between $250 and $350. I’m looking to put a 5” autometer tach in instead. What is the process like to install a modern tachometer?

Now I have to find the 3 alternator bolts for an S30 somewhere, the 3 that thread into the alternator itself. I thought I had bought a set, alas it was the ones to attach the mounting brackets only. Does anyone have these 3 bolts and willing to part with them?

For the bolts that mount the brackets on the sides of the engine to the motor mounts, do the bolts go in from the top or the bottom? A picture or two would be wonderful please. My son and I are planning on putting the engine and tranny back in the car tomorrow (Sunday) morning.

I've been pounding my head (and forearms) all day trying to get this stub axle out to replace the wheel bearings. I've tried beating it, I've tried heating it but nothing seems to work. The other side popped out after a few whacks from the slide hammer but no luck on the other side. Anyone have any tips or tricks to get this thing out?

Hello, My first post...lurking in the background since this spring and a subscriber for several months now. My son and I agreed to restore a car...he took the interior and body, leaving me with getting an engine running last inspected in 1997. Getting the engine going has been a WIP since this spring/summer. I'd like to hope that I'm close and want to run by where I'm at...a bit stuck actually, hoping it's not the ECU. Here's a summary: I've got fire (new plugs, wires, distributer cap) verified spark on the plugs. Fuel injectors were sent off for cleaning and are re-installed. New EFI connectors soldered in. Coils tested good with 9v battery. New battery an…

For those of us running the OE wiper blade frames, what are you doing for blade refills??? None of my area parts stores carry refills other than a Trico break-to-fit length that doesn't work. I've crawled Amazon and ebay, thought I had found a match with some NOS ANCO blades but no joy.

Hey Guys, Back again, always with a broken car 😕 Anyways, I have been redoing my interior over the past six months with dash/ dash harness/ gauges etc all pulled. Over this time period, I have been starting and warming up the car under the pretense that the entire EFI harness is separate from all that stuff. It has started and idled well countless times during this several-month process. Anyways, I got it together yesterday enough to get a seat in and go for a nice cruise around the neighborhood (still with no dash/gauges etc) to get the diff oiled and such. It ran perfect, no hesitations, good idle/part throttle/ WOT etc. Pulled it into the garage and le…

Hi all: 1977 280z. Stock with 90k miles. Bought a year ago not running (I know, stupid). It would start, but die immediately. The long version is detailed in my intro thread if you want to read it. http://www.classiczcars.com/index.php?/topic/53262-New-owner-of-'77-280z-from-Upstate-SC The short version. Replaced fuel filter and lines, fuel pressure regulator, injectors, AFM, coil, plugs, plug wires and coolant temp sensor. Cleaned and verified coolant temp circuit function at ECU. Air gap between reluctor and pickup set to 0.012. Timing set to 10 degrees BTDC. All of this was done in response to various symptoms, such as low fuel pressure, misfire, etc. over the past yea…

Well gang, here's a topic that's been beat to death...but let's give it another swing shall we? I saw an old forum thread where a guy put a Halloween fog machine in his car and with all the windows up, turned it on which showed all the air leaks in the cabin. Specifically, he did it to find where exhaust was sneaking into the cabin when driving with the windows were down. I gave that a shot this evening and found that it is my taillight gaskets, but the strange thing is they are brand new from Motorsport. We even removed the black trim surrounds and bolted them back to the body and you can see the smoke sneaking around the gasket edges regardless of how tight …

Hi folks-so I had a pretty strange day yesterday in my 1972 240z. Some specs: -2021 battery, never ran down -new alternator -new starter, with new inline "fuse" I installed the new starter and alternator around last fall. Since then, the battery meter in the dash would periodically peg all the way to the right, but only occasionally. Most of the time, it would hover near the middle marking, maybe swing upwards by a small bit when running. I had the car out for 2x 20 minute drives yesterday, and by the second drive, the meter was pegging all the way to the right. I had to gingerly ride the throttle to keep RPM's near 2k to get home, as the car ha…
