I just recently got my 260 started after a long engine transplant, and its engine revs great to 5.5K, runs smooth. However, when I get it on the road and up to around 45, it starts to feel like by back end is going to vibrate apart the faster I try to go. I have new suspension all around as well as bushings. I've had an alignment on the wheels too. I also have a new exhaust too, which I'm suspecting could be the cause, since it seems to clang and hit the mid section when the idle is low, but that stops after the engine is over 1K rpm. Is there something else I should suspect or look into? I did swap the transmission to a 81ZX 5spd on the same driveshaft from before.…

I just aquired a 72-240 that has been garaged for 20 yrs ! Great body/chassie condition..no rust, all stock, all there. However, the right rear wheel will not turn. I disconnected the E brake cable, and attempted to remove the drum. No luck. Severe attempts to remove the drum, still no budge. Left side rear wheel turns OK. So, is it really a stuck brake issue in the drum or possible half shaft/diffy or wheel bearing stuck ?? I even put a 6 foot bar across 2 studs for leverage and still no movement. :disappoin

Hi It is the first time posting a thread in this web cuz I am a new member. I have a '72 240z bought in CA and brought to Houston, TX back in '98. It comes with Triple Solex 40 PHH set up, head and all cool looking stuffs. I let it sit too long in my garage (really long). The carbs stopped working. I took them off, disassemble, and clean them. Here's the problem. I am a mechanical illiterate. I don't know anything about carbs. They look clean and beautiful now. BUT they just don't work. I need to rebuild them, I guess. I know that people here always talk about Mikuni, Weber, SU and New one, but not Solex. I understand the Mikuni bought the technology from Solex…

Im trying to get my z to start so i can drive it to a paint shop about a mile away. I would tow it but theguy said it has to run so he can move it around the shop. (as if a z is that heavy). The only reason it doesnt run is because i tok out the wiring harness under trhe dash becasue i was getting all new guages and the dash was its own project. So theres so harness in it. im not really in a hurry to get that very expensive dash back in there so he can "accendentially" get paint on it, (hes pretty good i done work with him before, but im not taking any chances anyway). Heres my problem: I took just the harness (without the dash and all the guages), and layed it in the …

i just changed starter/solenoid in 77 280z, marked wires b/4 disconnect- but they rubbed off. unable to get either good view/ info from photos or repair man. one battery term has 3 wire connect from wiring harness running on top of fire wall(i assume this is positive lead?). the other has heavy gauge wire (i assume to ground/ starter bolt). ANY help with connections, greatly appreciated. also, help with solenoid connections.THX.

(i know the 2 are usually mutually exclusive.. but hey, i'm dreamin here) i've tried to do a search of the forums but haven't found any concise answers would love some of you old pros to make me a list of things you would do to a stock 260z first to get the mo…

i just bought a 83 zxt to swap into my 240z, but i want to get it running good before i do the swap. I just bought the car, so i don't know much about the past work done on it and problems with the car. The owner actually said the car ran perfectly fine one week ago, and only started doing this after a potential buyer went to look at the car while he was gone and was able to pop the hood and look around since the car wasn't locked. The car starts and runs smooth and good at idle, but when the car is cold, it'll backfire sputter when revved. before it warms up, the rpms won't go past 1500rpm or so without heavy backfire and misfire. if i let the car idle for 10 mins and le…

It looks like it has sum sort of reed switchs taped on the slider, with a steel rod that goes over them it seems to reset the restance after passing one of them Its a 79 Z EFI I could post a pic if needed
