When I turn right I get a static-loud-scratchy-scraping sound and all music cuts out. My MP3 player is fine and so is all the wiring. The odd thing is...sometimes this problem is real touchy and can happen with the slightest turn of the wheel to the right. Sometimes it is not so touchy and only happens every few right turns. Speed seems to not matter and it just randomly like to make me mad and annoyed. Most of the time it's so bad I just keep my Cd player off....someone help me because I can't think of the solution. Could it be some other wires not having to do with the cd player???? Also....the speaker wires are good to go and so are all the wires connected behind the c…

I just ordered the 1/2 rear quarter panels from Wolf Steel and I understand that the 78 year model may be different than the other year rear quarter panel. Can anyone tell me if there is significant difference that would produce a problem for my resto? The wolf panel references models 74-78 quarter panels but he is unsure if he has the correct panel to make and sell me. Please advise anyone that might know what if any the differences are. Thanks mlctubby

i recently purchased a 74' 260z with a built L28 swapped in from justazcarguy. problem here is my ignition system. it has an E.I. from mallory, but engine "stumbles" through the RPM band (doesnt matter if its high or low rpm's) the motor is built like i said: silver dllar pistons,P&P n42 head, 6-2-1 header&exhaust, schneider aggressive camshaft,10 or 11:1 comp ( i cant remember), DUAL point mallory dizzy, and last but not least triple 44mm mikkies! so should i "rebuild" the mallory dizzy or swap to a 280zx dizzy ???hmmm... i wonder whats easier? the mallory also has an aftermarket ignition box. and i heard the black box dizzy wont take to the mallory igniti…

I need some help wireing my starter solenoid. I think I've got some of the connections wrong. From the solenoid there are two large copper bolts and one spade connector. I can't figure out how to correctly wire the two copper bolts. I need to connect the positive battery cable. The fusable link. And the wire that goes into the starter armature. What goes where?

Someone needs the phone, so I'll be brief. My turn signal is going a little on the wacky side. If the engine isn't running, and the lights are on, when I click it to signal right, the blinker won't really blink at all, it'll just "stick." If I turned off the lights, it still happened. If the engine was running, it wouldn't happen. If I ran the engine, but turned on the lights, the blinker would, again, stick. I decided to rev it up to see what would happen (increase the output of the alternator), the blinker resumed blinking, but I saw a brief trickle of smoke, seemingly coming from within the steering column. What's going on, and what can I do about it?

There are a lot of little electrical issues on this car, however the one that is dangerous is my headlights only work on high beam. They go dark when I toggle the steering switch to low beam. I can noddle with, and figure out most mechanical things, but electrics are the hardest for me. I have done everything I know how to trace the problem but it has me stumped. I am hoping this is some silly little common Z thing that will embarrass me, but is easily fixed :-). (And yes I checked the fuses.) Thanks in advance, David 1978 280Z, 5 speed, factory air (not working either)

HI all, Last night the wipers on the 240 popped the circlip, after pulling everthing out that had to be pulled, I was left with a collection of washers, a spring and some interlocking parts plus a broken circlip. I searched the FSM for a exploded diagram so I could correctly assemble this, no luck either, does anyone have an exploded diagram of this assembly? I've assumed RHD is the same as LHD.... TIA MOM

I realize they take a different face plate, but... Are the radios the same UNDER the faceplate? Will a 260/280 AM/FM radio fit into a AM faceplate, bolt into the dash frame and hook up to the antennae and the power wire? I have never worked with these radios so I am lost on this deal. Can someone help me out here? :surprised

Hello, I am the owner of a 1974 260Z. Back in 1986 I no longer had time for the car and put it into storage. Unfortunatly I left it in storage and never started it or anything. Please note that when this car was put away, it was in perfect running order. Well, recently with the help of my son, we replaced all belts and hoses, all fluids, clutch master cylinder and line. New battery, new air filter and some other odds and ends. With the new battery, everything came to life electronically. Here is the problem, today we tried to turn her over and got nothing but a click, click, click from the starter. Now, I was afraid that after having sat for so long, the engine may be …

Hey Everyone! I haven't been here in a while but I need some suggestions. I have a 1975 280 Z that something keeps draining the battery. We have tested the battery- not it, we purchased a new voltage regulator- not it, we have not a clue as to what is pulling the power from the battery. Have checked wire from ignition switch to the transistor unit with the ignition off and to the coil and there is no electrical drain there. Have checked the light switch in the same way and there is no drain there. We have charged the battery up full and have left it un hooked and then checked it 12 hrs later and it still had a full charge. Then hooked up the battery& bout 2 hrs. late…
