Hi i have a 1972 240z parts car, but the engine only has 50k miles on it, and the car im restoring (1976 280z) has 150K miles on it. The L28 engine didnt run to great when it was assembled, but the L24 was fine. If i were to put the L24 in the 280 what would be my losses and gains? Would i still be able to use the fuel injection system on the L24 or are SU's better? ( i dont mind adjusting and tunning them). And could i also swap the tranny too? Just wondering if everything is compatible.

Hi Folks, I have a rather large problem with the brakes on my '72 240z. I'm mostly finished with a resto/rebuild of a Scarab Kit 240z. I decided to replace the entire brake system with all new or N.O.S. parts. I have bled the system completely to remove all air, and even resorted to having a local garage power bleed the system for me. It appears that I still have minimal rear brakes. I only have half a pedal, and this diminishes when the engine is running. This is a completely stock brake system. I really need help with the following questions: 1. Are 7/8" Tokico and 7/8" Nabco stock Master Cylinders interchangeable? 2. What type of adjustments, if any, need to be made…

I have two identical foam sheets that appear to be sound deadenors. They are black on one side and foam backed. They are very flexible. I am guessing they go under the dash. I cannot remember where they go. They appear to have been glued in place. Can anyone help me out here? :nervous:

my battery is dead!! the only things that were on were the dome light and the glove box light (overnight). how long would it take for the battery to go down to 5 volts using just those lights? could there be some kind of voltage drain that I don't know of? also, which is better: trickle charging the battery, or using a charger to put 12V into it and starting the car that way then let the alternator charge the battery?

Hi guys. Ive had my 72 240z for about a month now and ive really gotten into the car. The deeper i get in, the more work i have to do... its never ending! Since i started taking apart the front end i realized i need new rocker pannels, inner wheel wells, front frame rails, fire wall needs to be patched, battertray area is toast, floor pans are gone, floor supports are gone, and its even starting to get into the rear... the spare tire compartment is rotting. I honestly dont have the money to repair all these so i was wondering if anyone had a shellfor a 240z. Im located in massachusetts and i am willing to travel kind of far to pick one up. I read a previous thread a…

So, I had a '78 in high school and a '77 briefly while in college (don't ask where they are now, it hurts too much... suffice to say that they are in heaven). It has been years, my wife and I have been sharing a Murano (LOVE that car btw, we just moved to FL, and I have never had such a satisfying road trip), but she's working now and we needed a second car, something we could buy cash to avoid another car payment. I started looking at Civics and whatnot when I slapped myself on the head and realized what an opportunity I had to finally get the car I'd always wanted (or something reasonably close). The hunt began... I really wanted a '72 but after much headache (I was …

Hello, Ive been working on my 280z for awhile now, i have it running, stopping but not driving! all because of the clutch. The clutch slave cylinder was toast so i replaced it, the master cylinder is fine, so i bled the system, and re bled it, and again... and one more time! I cant seem to find any pressure, and if i remove the bleed screw oil streams out. Perhaps someone could help me here? im lost, i dont know why its being so darn stubborn.

Hi all, I got a new clutch master cylinder for my 73 at the local import auto parts store this morning. Just pulled the old Tokico one out and the first thing I noticed is that the threaded rod on the one I bought this morning is somewhat shorter. Should I be worried. My original Tokico clutch master cylinder rod measures 4" from the flange that mounts to the firewall to the end of the rod. The one I purchased this morning is of course also a 5/8 diameter one, also made in Japan although a different brand (Mijuya or something like that) but the threaded rod only measures 3" 3/8. The bracket that screws on the end of the threaded rod and connects to the pedal was at its ou…
