I have an 83ZX that went from having to turn the ignition key a couple of times to get it to start to plain won't start. The Battery and Starter are both good and have been bench load tested. I have 12V from the battery to the larger starter terminal, and no voltage to the starter in the "start" position of the ignition switch. I have 12V from the ignition to the distributor in the on position. I have checked the "brown" fuseable link on the passenger fenderwell and it is O.K. HEP Hep!!!!!!

Hello everbody, Does anybody have any ideas to improve the starting of the 240z. It's very cold in New York and even though the car starts it takes about two or three trys and thats with a complete major tune up with new plugs, points, rotor, fuel filter, coil, distributor cap.Carbs are adjusted. I know these cars were always alittle difficult. The battery is new and the starter and alternator are fine. Would an electronic ignition help. The car is garaged but even in the garage unless I put the heater on it can be a pain in the neck. Let me know if you have had the same problem and if there is a fix. Thanks Burt Cardogman1 71 240z

Hello this is Stacey. Almost 3 months ago we replaced the engine in my 280 and the car ran great. Recently the car has been running rough. The compression check ran a little over 160 in all cylinders and the plugs appear to be burning about the same. Now the compression is 120 in No. 1 cylinder and I need to find out why. I own a 1972 240Z, and the speedometer did not work when I first bought it. I ordered a new pinion gear because the nylon cog was worn out on the first one. Well, after only about 350 miles, this one is worn out too and my speedometer does not work. It just abruptly stopped working one morning. Does anyone know what could be causing it to wear out the cogs so fast, and where to buy one? The one I ordered was from Courtesy Nissan, and it took about 2 months to get it, and was pretty expensive to only work for a few hundred miles. Any help is appreciated.

I have an early 71' 240Z, and the windshield(or windscreen, depending where you live) wipers will not work. I s this a common thing? What should I look for, Im not too good with wiring, im a drivetrain and suspension guy, i usually steer clear of wiring so I am not to knowledgable with it. I dont want to have to buy a new motor, unless I have to, so i just need to know what all could go wrong with the whole system. Thanks in advance.

i have a 1973 240z its a 4 speed and it has duel points and im only gettin spark on 1 side of the points and it wont start its really weird cause if the distrubiter cap is on it wont try to start but if i set the cap on the block it will try to start and back fire. i read some were automatics were only duel point and manuels were single point is that true. anyways please help ive tryed eveything i know and it still wont start please help thank you by. :stupid: <---- what i no about 240z

anyone? I saw that gear oil was leaking out of my tranny through the clutch fork hole. I pulled the tranny, and it looks like it's leaking out of a small hole underneath the input shaft (on the cover plate). Why is there a hole there?? It didn't look like it was leaking from the gasket. Anyone have any ideas on what could be the problem?? It wasn't leaking too bad, but leaking none the less. Never torn into a tranny before, so that's why I'm asking.

Hello,im new to this forum,and Z's overall.I just got this 1972 z with L28 engine swap.I have dual SU carburators,and dont know anything at all about carbs.Well,i was driving the car for a week(and was really enjoying it :knockedou ),BUT then it happened to rain in los angeles,and something happened.The car would drive really rough first,then its stopped going over 3k rpms at all.I stopped to check whats up,opened the hood,and saw that one of the carbs is leaking gasoline pretty bad(one thats closer to a driver).When i stepped on the gas,the leaking would stop,but would start again when car is on idle.I tried checking all ignition stuff,plugs look ok,car got new wires,EL …

Well, I got my Z fixed yesterday, the electrical problem. Today, I was pulling into my girlfriend's driveway, when I stopped, the car made a strange noise, like th ebrakes lockingup, which kinda makes sense b/c I kinda stopped quicker than usual...except it wasn't my brakes. When I shut the car off and got out...my Radiator is leaking coolant, at an alarming rate...infact the whole thing drained faster than if I would I have removed the plug....so I put a hose in it, turned it on to see if maybe the plug had come loose or if i could determine the source of the leak...from best that I can tell, the damned thing separated at the bottom, or in some other way ripped open ne…

I need to adjust my valves (I think) on my L24. I have looked on this site at the forums and others also to find out exactly how, but came up short.
