ok the other day my 75 280z with efi started overheating. it has a bigger radiator, oil cooler, and electric fans and normally runs well below or at the bottom of the4 temp guage even at full throttle. I have replaced the radiator cap, water pump, thermometer, and flushed and refilled the cooling system. there are no leaks from the coolant system that i can see. also my car normally runs extremely rich (dunno why) but anyway i checked the spark plugs today and they were blistered white. Anyone have a guess as to the problems? any suggestions would be nice.

Hey all, was helping my brother <broken74> replace his tank hoses and get his gas tank checked and we were in the middle of putting all of it back together when we found a big issue. One of the two large vent hose nipples where you attach them to the vapor tank is loose , like the welds have come apart. It doesn't pull away from the tank but the nipple area kinda rotates loosely. Would this be something we could jb weld < brothers ideal > or should we just find a 260z vent tank and wait the 3-5 days for shipping. Guess we figured where the fumes were coming from other than the heater hose used incorrectly and assorted torn hoses. The PO was a wonderful mechani…

Hi all, new here... Didn't know where else to post this question, so hope it's ok here... I'm in KC, MO and I've got a lead on what seems to be a decent deal...I just need some confirmation. Please forgive any bastardization of Zerminology...I've read through these forums as much as time allows in the last couple days... General info: The car is a 1791 240Z, Series 1 (man. date of 7/70, vin is HLS30-072XX) (I x'd out the last 2 #'s). History that I know: My friend is a mechanic that bought this car in the early 80's from the original owner. It was originally yellow. He then used it for autocrossing and made some of the associated upgrades (suspension, engine). He also…

Ok im doing a l28 swap in my 260z. i found a 81zx non turbo at a junkyard. the guy wants 600 for me to take home and take what i want out of it. i want to get the engine, tranney, diff. do u think this is worth the 600. i dont know if the engine starts but he said it does.(i dont know if that 100% true) since im going to carb i dont need all the wireing. i played with the tranney and it moved through all the gears nicely. im not going to through the engine as soon as i get i will clean it up and some mods to it. i think i might rebuild the engine while its out. i just want some input. they have a 280z also that i want to get the moustache bar. i know the non turbo diff ha…

Whats going on? For about the last five days my amp meter has been reading in the +20 range and when I turn on my head lights it jumps to about +30. Does that mean that my battery is going dead because it can't hold a charge? then a little suprise my amp meter started jumping around and now it stays at about -15 with my head lights on and about -1 with my lights off. And when my lights are on they are not as bright as they were. Is it an altinator thing or a battery thing? I have a new (put in 2 years ago) voltage regulator I checked all of the connections the altinator is only 2 years old also Help! I suck at electrical stuff Matt-

Hi all, I need to know whether the 280ZX and 260Z/240Z share the same engine mounts and gearbox/crossmember mounts. I am having custom engine mounts made and gearbox crossmember made to suit an RB motor BUT the builder accidently got in a 280ZX dummy car for my 260Z. Please let me know ASAP if this will work if you can Thanks

I have an early production 260 - #1024 - that, as I found out today, has been given an L28 with the stock L26 smogger carb(flattop) setup. Someone was evidently cheating...it appears to be a complete drivetrain swap, it has a 5-speed as well. Setup is as follows: L28 block, N42 head, N36 manifolds and flattops with all of the plumbing and hoses, right down to the smog pump. No points - ignition is electronic, with a '70s Chrysler ECU(what we of the Mopar kind call an 'orange box') and matching quad-terminal ballast resistor. Ran decently until recently, when it began to sputter at freeway speeds. The problem: Great around town. Idles well, starts easily, no oil in t…
