ok i did a search and i just got people that already removed them. well i read the datsun automotive book not much help their. i got the bolts off which was a pain. i got that pentrating oil that i read about. and i can say wow that stuff works. the only problem is how u get the filler hose off (big tube that puts the gas in the tank when u fill up) {do u take off the bottom of the filler hose or unscrew from the top of the tube}and the hose on the far right side i think its called a vent hose(how do help get teh rubber slide off the metal). since im taking the tank down i notice that the a couple of the hoses need to be replaced so im on that(vent tube,return nozzle). i…

Hello again. Finally got my car running. New battery like all of you said. It is a 1975 280z. Sometimes it idels rough when i go to stoplights. So i put it in neurtal and give it gas. Now its iddling fine. But the problem is that it stutters going down the road around 50. No throtle response when it does. I loose power then it goes normal again. Thanks for your help in advance. I'm a sophomore in college near Rochester, NY and I've had my Z for a couple years now, when i bought it I knew it was gonna be a project car, but what i really need is a garage which specializes in Z or at least knows the least bit about them. I can do a lot of the smaller engine work myself, and i am planning on attending an automotive technical college, but if i could find a garage that would help me out with this project or maybe even let me participate in working on it so i could learn more of it that would be a huge motivation for me. Hello, I' started an engine translplant last...July? for my 260, and I rebuilt the motor and tranny, and finally got it in place. I've got a problem though, I think the motor is crooked? I tried putting the motor into the bay with the original L26 brackets that go from the block to the bodyside mount(which I replaced), but they were too long it seemed, and I couldn't get it to work with the tranny. So, I switched in the 81ZX's shorter brackets, and now have the motor secured. I noticed a problem when I installed my MSA header. It doesn't fit worth a damn. I got it on, but it's sitting firmly on the mounting arm/bracket and the steering rod, and that can't be a good t…

So, im going to look at my first possbile z car ever! I know to look under the battery tray, but thats it. Where are some otehr common trouble spots. There is a lift avaible to lift teh car over my head.

Hi guys, yesterday I did a through cleaning of my engine which it has never had. I used a hose and air pressure and good old fashioned hand power. It ran fine after I cleaned it and started it up and ran it to work the following day. When I got off of work my engine would not start like it normally does with no gas pumping. It only started with gas pressed in and it sputtered like mad and shot black smoke, it would not stay idling with no gas. It seemed like it must be running on like three cylinders. I dont know what to do, I check the gaps on the B6ES plugs from the box and they were all .039 and thats what I thought they were supposed to be(read a reference) and I also got the NE61 wires, now my car wont run right at all, what am I supposed to do? It idles at 500 and backfires and sputters

I am in the middle of overhauling the rack and all the rubber bushings to poly. I was cleaning the radius arms and noticed a slight bend on the driver side and an even slighter bend on the passenger arms. The car was really lowered by the PO and would bottom out easily. I have since put the original springs back in. Can anyone tell me whether the bend in radius arms is by design or damage?

Hi All, I just got a new Pacesetter exhaust pipe and muffler. I got the old pipe off OK. The original header remains. And the new pipe is made for the original header. I widened the mouth of the the new pipe a bit and it will go on to the header only about an eigth of an inch. I struggled with it for four hours. I used grease to try to amke it slip on easier. It still won't go on any more than an eigth of an inch. My arms and back are sore. Any ideas? Thanks

I've have my '72 240 for a while, but just had the time to really start working on it. Here's what it's like... -great interior, no cuts, clean -original L24 motor with 103k miles on the odometer -starts up without hesitation and runs pretty strong -just replaced all soft brake lines, master cylinder and servo hoses, brakes well -new plugs, wires, fuel and air filter -just replaced clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder/boot and shifts well -body is ok, except for usual rust spots..small hole in floor, where front fenders attach to body -exhaust is completely rusted, but doesn't sound bad at all -all bushings are really bad, tie rod boot is almost gone and feels like it'…

I have a 75 280z. I left my lights on, and about 6 or so hours later i couldnt start my car. I got a jump start. Car ran normal for about 5 mintues, then died. Wont crank over. Got another jump start. Ran fine until i was parking. Died again, when i let off the gas. The battery was repalced a few months ago. Is the alternator bad, or the battery is bad? I tried to push start it, i dosnt want to turn over. thanks in advance jesse.
