My 73 240z takes a while for me to get it to fire up. Once I have started it, it will start again effortlessly. I try to play with the choke and have not been able to figure out why it is so difficult to start. It does not seem to be related to the weather. It has new plugs, new gas filter, new battery. What can I do to figure out this problem? Thanks Zover

I need to know how to test a voltage regulator. If any one knows please let me know. I have been trying to fix my fuel injection system and now thanx to help from people in this forum I think I can but now another problem came up. When I put a charger on my battery what I assume is the voltage regulator is humming, when I put the charger on start the regulator starts buzzing along with my distributor. The other day the engine ground wire that wasn't hooked up fell against my positive coil terminal. It was there for a couple minutes before I noticed it. By that time my battery was dead. So I figure the regulator is now screwed. What I assume is my voltage regulator is on t…

Hey Guys, I have a mostly stock 75' 280Z. Last year I changed my plugs and put in splitfire plugs. Last month i took them out to see how the condition was and i noticed that they were a little fouled. I sandblasted them and put them back in, the car was still running fine. Now a month later the car is idling a little rough, so I decided to check the plugs, when I took them out they were covered in oil. I have not idea what's going on, can anyone help?

I've got problems! I just put my new F54 N42 engine in and I'm having a hell of a time. It seems to idel ok but when I give it a little gas it back fires through the carberator and dies. Then if I just let it idle and shut it off it with "deisle" for at least 20 or even 30 seconds then it spits out a blast of gasoline through the carbs. What the hell is going on? Is my timing off and would that make it "deisel". HELP! Matt-

Replaced my "260" transmission out of my '72 and replaced with an "82 zx 5-speed. While out of the car I had a new clutch, disk and bearing ready to put in, but found the current set-up (Nissan OEM) was in almost new shape so I kept the clutch parts from the 260 in the car. The only different part was the clutch fork which was replaced with the fork from the 5-speed. Had taken the 5-speed gears out of the tranny housing for a visual inspection and found nothing wrong visually. Put back together and added 1 and half qt. of Red Line MT-90. Now the problem. The car runs through all 5 gears fine but there is a grinding sound. It is more apparent when you come to a rolli…

I am rebuilding my 82 280zx 2+2 5 speed transmission and it will not shift into 3rd or 4th with the fork rods installed. It will shift by hand until I install the 1st/2nd fork rod. As soon as I install another fork rod and put pressure on the interlock balls it will not shift except by extreme force. I have installed a new fork rod and has not helped. Any ideas?

Fuel gauge fuse sparks when inserted and bogs the engine down(dies). Fuse box has been cleaned. This fuse seems to operate all gauges. All gauges have been disconnected and the fuse still sparks and kills the motor (doesn't blow!) The fuse wire also goes to the voltage regulator after the gauges. The alt. has been bench tested as great. Where's my drain? All grounds have been cleaned. (76 280). Thanks!undefinedundefined

Hey, folks. I've got a early '74 260 with a 5-speed swapped in. It's becoming progressivly harder to shift into first and somewhat hard in other gears, especially when not moving. I'm getting grinding / clashing when shifting. I've taken to double cltuching and heel-toing in order to get the shifter through the gates while driving. The problem is at its worst when the car is cold, and when warm, it's atually not too bad of a problem, although it's still difficult to shift at times. I'm told that the throwout bearing might have been put in backward, or is going out, making the clutch not disengage completely. If it was put in backward, it may be getting machined down and m…
