Oh k i got my 73 z (thanks texasz you da man bruddah) and ive got it in tip top shape everything on it is working great, except for my taillights. The hazzards turn signals(front and back) brake lights and reverse lights work. But i cant for the life of me figure out how to get my night driving taillights to work. The fuses are good the wiring is good what am i missing here fellahs??

Does anyone know how the locking mechanism on the drivers side door of a 72 240 works? I’m having problems with it, the key wont work and neither will the push down pin. Brian

i found this 280 on ebay. I did not bid and someone won, but they never followed up on the car. I contacted the owner, and i really want to buy it. I just want you guys to look at it and make sure the rust is not that bad. Hi all, I'm new to this broad and I have always wanted a 240z! However, I don't really know any technical or things to beware of when buying a 71 240z. I've recently seen a local paper's ad, all it says is 1971 datsun 240z 280 motor + 5speed tranny needs carbs and battery I want to be a bit more pro when trying to talk to the seller and to be able to determine if the car is worth buying, can you guys please give me some inputs of what i should ask him about the car? p.s. I thought 280 motor is fuel injected, why does it need a carburetor? thanks!~

My car has recently developed a misfire and I've been having a lot of trouble tracking it down. From what we've determined so far, it's a problem of not getting enough voltage to the plugs, as putting a new set of plugs fixes the problem for about a week, then it returns. Over the period of a day or so it will miss here and there, and then it all goes to sh*t.....missing at all revs/loads to the point the car is undriveable. There's a lot of carbon on all the plugs when it's like this, so it's not just one cylinder with the problem. Btw, pretty much everything in the ignition system was new as of 6 months ago. i was trying to adj the window on the track that is not right (p.o) issue i guess. the track looks bent so i cant put the wheels back on the rails . i obviously cant take the panel off because it is spot welded. now the window is just sitting there freely off the tracks! i lifted the window up and jammed something to keep it shut for now. any suggestions on how to get this fixed? i want to be able to roll down my darn windows! i dont think they sell the track sliders or do they?...and seems it might be easier to pick up another door any help would be appreciated. thanks ~B

(78 280z) Ok, im in the process of rebuilding my engine. I just got 500 bux that i can spend on parts. So im getting main, and rod bearings, rings, and some other small stuff. I was wondering which of these two am i supposed to get for my mains? http://shop.nissanpartstore.com/?make=NI&year=1978 Thanks a bunch EDIT: Go to the main bearings section under engine mechanical. There is STD, and 0.25mm (0.010") Which one is for me?

OK, I have all the basic knowledge of how the turbo system works, and how to incorperate it with my early Z.. BUT!!! One Part I just dont quite get......... "Timing". stock 76' is 8 deg. (+/- 2 )..... 81'-82' turbo 20 deg... and 83' is 24 deg. 1) Why would you Advance the timing on a turbo system??? 2) Can someone help me understand why with a system that you dont want detonation!!, would you have the spark start sooner?? 3) Is there something about the increased cylinder pressures that slows combustion??? or do I have something wrong in my thinking this out?? Any help appreciated, aZcarbum
