Hello everyone, I'm looking for some advice to solve my problem. I was having leaks when gas was pumped... it was the plastic filler tube (the one on my avatar). So when I pulled off it the flexible part came out in pieces When searching for the new replacement part, I find it for 100+shipping . Too expensive for me, call me what you want, but I will prefer a cheaper doit yourself solution to tackle this problem. the rigid plastic piece seems o.k. the lower flexible plastic piece it's all rotted Do anyone out there had the same problem? Can the filler neck from a 280zx work? Where to look for a cheaper new part? Don't want to buy a used one from another 240z, pro…

I have a 1971 240z. When I accelerate to 60 mph my car starts to vibrate the faster I go the more it vibrates. Has anyone every had this problem, if so, what did you do..

Hi Guys, I am new to this forum and my name is Tom Whitfield. My dad and I have recently just purchased a highly modified competition spec English Datsun 260z, and we are having some troubles with it. When the engine reaches about 4000 RPM a vibration is experienced from the engine. The engine is an L28 and has racing cams, triple Weber carburettors, high spark (???) spark plugs, has been recently bored, polished and blueprinted and has flat top pistons and an L26 head. The previous owner has told us that he had had a lot of trouble with the harmonic balancer but since buying a solid gold BMW harmonic balancer the problem seemed to be fixed. Hey Z people, Does anyone know the proper torque for the front wheel hub bolt? Its the bolt that holds the roter and hub on and keeps the bearings in place. Or do you just turn it till its tight? :stupid: Matt-

So I need to jack my Z up, but there's a little problem. I have a nice hole in my floorboard (passenger) and the rail has collapsed with it. The rail by my T/C box appears to be in okay shape, but I can't see through rubber undercoating. I want to get under the car with my heat gun to see what is REALLY there (hoping for no rust on the actual frame rail, just the floor supports), but I'm mortified that it will collapse onto me. The question I pose is, "What viable options do I have for suspending the car stably with a sketchy frame rail?" (78 280z) Hey guys. I have a bit of a problem. I hooked up my battery to test it, and make sure it still has juice in it, and to make sure all of my lights are working good. I have nothing but the block, and the crank in the car. all of the stuff is out because im rebuilding it, and inspecting the internals. So i plugged in the battery, and checked to see that the lights worked ok. I turned on the headlights, and the passenger light is very dim. When i switch it to brights it goes out completely, but the drivers light goes bright. I though it was just a worn bulb or something. But then i turned the key to the "ON" position. Hi All, I know about the vapor lock problem my 1973 240Z is prone to, but should I be losing power (and sometimes stalling) after only 15 minutes of driving in 65 degree weather? When I experience the power loss my temperature guage is well below max (about halfway of the range of the arc). I only have the mechanical fuel pump which is relatively new. I also have a brand new fuel filter. The car will accelerate well and drive great for the first 12 to 15 minutes. When I touch the rubber fuel line leading to the fuel filter, it is only moderately warm so I don't see how the fuel would be boiling to cause a vapor lock. I do smell some vapors coming from the engine compartme…

I am trying to remove the fender from my car and can not determine how to remove the headlight bucket. It seems as though there are 3-4 screws/bolts which hold it to the fender but I can not see the heads on them and when I feel them with my fingers then do not seem to have a place for a screwdriver nor a hex head for a wrench, they feel like the edges are perfectly round and the top is completely flat. So the obvious question is how do I remove it???

I have recently -adjusted the carbs, -replaced the spark plugs/wires, -replaced the points with electronic ignition, -replaced any worn or bad fuel or vacuum hoses.... I still get backfires and it sounds like it's missing again. So I thought maybe the firing order was backwards... Correct me if I am wrong, but clockwise it should be: 3-5-1-4-2-6, right? Please help me figure out what's wrong. Thanks.

Hey Z people... Why oh why, is my car running on!!!!! My valves are perfect(10 I 12 E) my timing is about 10 degrees advanced. I use 91 octain (I dont think that makes a differance). My compression ratio sis 9.2 :1. I have a performance cam 460 lift 270 duration with beef'd up springs. So if my valves are set right and my timing is good what elese could be causeing the runon?! Could it be something in the dizzy? could it be an exaust manifold leak? Or maybe a hidden vacum leak? Any Ideas would be great, I'm pretty tired of using second gear to stop my car.
