Hi All, I know about the vapor lock problem my 1973 240Z is prone to, but should I be losing power (and sometimes stalling) after only 15 minutes of driving in 65 degree weather? When I experience the power loss my temperature guage is well below max (about halfway of the range of the arc). I only have the mechanical fuel pump which is relatively new. I also have a brand new fuel filter. The car will accelerate well and drive great for the first 12 to 15 minutes. When I touch the rubber fuel line leading to the fuel filter, it is only moderately warm so I don't see how the fuel would be boiling to cause a vapor lock. I do smell some vapors coming from the engine compartme…

I am trying to remove the fender from my car and can not determine how to remove the headlight bucket. It seems as though there are 3-4 screws/bolts which hold it to the fender but I can not see the heads on them and when I feel them with my fingers then do not seem to have a place for a screwdriver nor a hex head for a wrench, they feel like the edges are perfectly round and the top is completely flat. So the obvious question is how do I remove it???

I have recently -adjusted the carbs, -replaced the spark plugs/wires, -replaced the points with electronic ignition, -replaced any worn or bad fuel or vacuum hoses.... I still get backfires and it sounds like it's missing again. So I thought maybe the firing order was backwards... Correct me if I am wrong, but clockwise it should be: 3-5-1-4-2-6, right? Please help me figure out what's wrong. Thanks.

Hey Z people... Why oh why, is my car running on!!!!! My valves are perfect(10 I 12 E) my timing is about 10 degrees advanced. I use 91 octain (I dont think that makes a differance). My compression ratio sis 9.2 :1. I have a performance cam 460 lift 270 duration with beef'd up springs. So if my valves are set right and my timing is good what elese could be causeing the runon?! Could it be something in the dizzy? could it be an exaust manifold leak? Or maybe a hidden vacum leak? Any Ideas would be great, I'm pretty tired of using second gear to stop my car. Rock on Z people Matt-

Well, folks, I finally pulled off the pulley: http://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/jaynekondo/detail?.dir=/7c43&.dnm=affd.jpg Then, I tried to put pulley(Nissan Euro damper) back on the crankshaft. It seems the the pulley does not go further into the crankshaft nor straight/alinged. When I turnd the engine on , the pulley was wobbling during idling. Anyway, initially, I used hammered the pulley back on front of the crankshaft, then I placed the allen bolt into the front crankshaft for further pully back on right place , but it did not go further. http://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/jaynekondo/detail?.dir=/7c43&.dnm=61f4.jpg&.src=ph How to put a pulley b…

I just got my 74 260z the other day and while inspecting it I noticed the heat doesn't get hot. So I did some searching on the message board and looked in some of the books I've got. I found some posts on the control cable slipping off the water valves control arm so I went looking. Sure enough I found the cable, intact, just hanging there under the dash, but there doesn't appear to be a water valve at all. Some questions, the valve is usually mounted behind the heater flapper door right? I see the outline of what looks likes the old mounting bracket with two screw holes. The PO mentioned that it needed a new "heater switch", I had assumed he was talking about something o…

I have a 71 240z, I finally got fixed enough to drive around town. I went to the shop yesterday and filled my AC with freon. The man at the shop said the pressure was great and it was now full of freon. But I get no cold air blowing out. I can feel the hose under the passenger side dash and they are cold, but still no cold air. My blower seems to work fine on all settings. And I have an aftermarket AC/Heat switch attached to the driverside of the center console. That seems to be working as well. Any Ideas?

Today when I was driving I turned on my turn signal and i heard a spark... and a few seconds later, I saw smoke coming out of my steering column.. I took it home and investigated that everything works fine except the turn signals.... However, the hazards work and so does the parking lights and the headlight "brights" switch. So I know it's not a fuse or the bulbs. But the turn signals don't work, and I looked at the wires and couldnt see any damage from a fire, although I had to use my fire extinguisher to put it out.... Do you think it could be the wires somewhere where I can't see or can it be the actuall turn signal assembly in the column>?
