Well, its a long story but apparently its looking like I may enherit this 260Z that has been sitting in our barn for 20 years. I guess I'm wondering what I might be in for if i decide to bring this thing back to life. The body looks great almost as if it just needs a bath and would be shiny again. It has a 3 Weber setup alloy rims and a wing in the back . Its actually a pretty sharp looking car. The problems are the exhaust system is rusted out and the tires are flat. the drivers floor is rusted through and mice have been living in the glove box, and I'm not sure if there is a key to the car yet. I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on getting the engine started agai…

I finally got my car on the road this week end. It's a 71 240Z for those of you who don't know me yet. When I make a right hand turn I get a rattle noise from the rear end. It is pretty loud and sounds as if something is touching the drive shaft while it is spinning. It doesn't do this on a left hand turn. It doesn't matter if I am on the gas or not. Does anyone have any ideas on this?

My 70 with Pertronix unit installed died yesterday. Was sitting at a light. It was not holding an idle. Had to keep feeding it gas. Then it just started loosing power and died. Couldn't get it started again. It seems to have a very weak spark. I was thinking the Pertronix might have fried. Is there anyway to test it??? TIA, Marty

I am the recent proud second owner of a metallic blue 73 240z. I am amazed at how complete this car is. I live in Kansas and while this car is not going to be a daily driver, I still want Airconditoning. I plan on buying the compressor upgrade kit from MSA. Before I can upgrade the airconditioner I have to fix a problem with the vents. When I have the heater controls set to vent and turn the fan switch to low all is well. Air blows out of each vent in the same volume. When I switch the fan to medium the air blows out the same for an instant, I hear a muted clicking noise and then all of the air is blowing out of the right vent. While my passenger might really app…

I have a 79 5 speed and it is hard to shift into 2nd gear and also it would come out of 5th gear if you let off the accelerator. I was driving down the highway and the shifter was in 5th gear but the engine would just free rev like the clutch was disengaged. All the other gears are still the same and it doesnt grind or anything, what could be the problem and is it still OK to drive on?? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Ok, I'm driving an hour to see a 240Z. Wondering if I should take some tools to check it out... Like a compression gage? or something like that? he said it burns a little oil, so i thought it would be good to check the compression. anything else I should take with me?! I know to look for rust in the Frame Rails, Floors, Hatch, Battery Tray, and Rockers, any other ideas? here is a link to pictures of the carhttp://12-215-46-46.client.mchsi.com:8080/240z/ Engine looks a little burnt. but who knows... thanks for your time! ~Matt EDIT: don't think it matters but I'm told it's a '73 and has round tops. (plus for me!) EDIT2: OH! one more thing, he said he wasn't sure ho…

I have a 71 240z. I replaced my manifold with 6 to 2 headers, got a new exaust, re-built my carbs and pluged all the smog stuff on my balance tube. Now I'm real excited to hear this new exaust. Well geuss what, It wont start. First I take my fuel line from the gas tank and put it in a gas can to see if there is a block up to that point. Still no gas. Then I take the fuel line off the carb and turn the engine over. No gas. So I blow through the line and air seems to go through. So I buy a new fuel pump. (mechanical) Well geuss what, you have to take the whole air compressor off to get the fuel pump off. (needed to clean that area anyway) New fuel pump on, still no gas…

Ok, i just undid every bolt from the oil pan (great fun). But now i cant seem to get the thing off. I whacked it, and whacked it but the damn thing wont budge. I am positive every bolt is off. I even tried kicking it, and nothing. Any tips? Also, how should i go about getting the crankshaft pulley off so i can take off the front cover? Everything is off except for the pulley. Whenever i go to loosen the bolt, all it does is turn the crankshaft. Is there any way i can somehow lock the crank to get this off? Thanks a bunch guys

Hey all just bought my 71 240 a few weeks ago and was driving around today when all of a sudden the brake pedal had no resistance until you got near the floor and it has hardley any power to them. Got home and there is a nice puddle on the drivers side of my car about mid section, beleive its brake fluid. Anyone know if that is where the proportioning valve is or have any idea what the prob could be, thanks for any help.
