Had my 72 z out for a ride tonite. Got stuck in bumper to bumper traffic and began to notice that the clutch was acting funny. I had to continuously keep the revs up... as hi as 4 grand to keep the clutch from chattering, the engine from shaking and the car from stalling. Once I cleared the traffic jam it seemed to be OK. What was wrong and how do I fix it. Thanks. Joe

Went and took a look at a number 4xxx 1970 240z in houston yesterday. The car has just over 100000 miles. The things i spotted while looking at it were: un-original 5-spd tranny, rear quarter emblems shaved, unoriginal hood, 280zx side view mirrors, car looks to have been lightly tapped in the rear at some point (the driver side bumper guard slightly pushed into rear body, along with the body under the bumper having some dents/irregularities), couple minor dings here and there. Rusted through holes in the front inner fenders above the frame rails and rust on the driver side dogleg. Both of which would be repaired before purchase. The battery tray, rear deck panel and floo…

I finally have my second motor in my car, go to start it and... it turns over, starts, idles ok for a second and starts reving like it taking off to outerspace. I had to kill it. tried again, same thing. Odd thing it didn't run rough (ie bad timing) and it started right up, it just wanted to rev up like a dyno run without my foot on the gas. Its a 280 with FI and pretty much everything have been apart, so I just need to know if anyone knows what I should look at to narrow this down. I hope it didn't damage the motor... HELP HELP HELP any one in Dallas is more then welcome to stop by and check it out, It's quite a sight at present... Bryan:mad:

Story: was at a driving event and in the middle I notice my clutch is engaging really wierd, I had to push it all the way down to get it to engage. I pull into the pits, its very very low on clutch fluid so I fill it up. I go back out, its spongy then starts to stiffen up. Then I go dry again, and can not shift at all. So I add fluid and Bleed the clutch, This works until I notice it going spongy again. I call it quits then. That is whats leaking, for reference, that picture is taken upside down. The J on Japan is facing the rear of the car. When I push down the clutch a jet of fluid will squirt out of their. It leaks out of that rubber boot.

Will a taillight from a '71 240Z fit on a '72 240Z? Is there any difference in the bolt/screw arrangement or fit between the 1971 and 1972 models taillights? Thanks in advance for help.

I own a 1973 Australian delivered 240Z. I ask the following question???? When cornering hard left in the 240Z, fuel leaks out of the "overflow" tube that exits from the "Petrol filler neck" which is the main tube used when filling the car. The "overflow" tube is a breather tube, and sits behind the rear wheel. Due to the forces of inertia, during hard left turn, the fuel in the tank is pushed to the right and up the filler neck, where it enters this "overflow" tube and ends up spraying out the back of the car!. Presents a problem when friends are following you!!. Can I block this hose off? or do I need to get a one-way valve to allow the tank to breathe?. Has anyone el…

Hey folks. I am a fairly new 240Z owner, and I had made a few calls to local shops in town about the price of a new carb... and DAMN. I had no idea these things were so expensive! I was quoted $500-600 for the su carbs...and $1200 for the Weber carbs! Is this accurate? Or are they just jerking my chain? If it is correct...do any of you know how I can get a used or reconditioned carb for less than that? HEEEELP!!!
