Well I just picked up a 74 260z, I bought it from a repo yard, and the forsale sign that was in the car from the old owner claimed it had an L28 block and an L24 head. Now I'm not sure how much truth is in that but it hasn't been ran in a while now. I can smell gas, but it smells kinda funky, it has no air cleaner or anything of the sort on the end of the carbs. I can't find any wiring diagrams for it to see if the wiring is good or bad. We cranked it over and it almost wants to start, but won't fire. I know it has spark, I just put new gas in it so I know the gas is good......any suggestions or some good pics of a motor so I can see how the fuel lines are ran and wh…

Hey Z people Looks like I need to rebuild my engine:dead: I had an L24 but im going to jump up to an L28 (F54), so here is my question, can I use an E88 head with out putting the bigger valves in the e88 head and still use the f54 flat top pistons? Has anyone ever done this? Are the smaller valves a problem? Will I starve the engine? If I do need the bigger valves is it just the intake or is also the exaust? Also is it just a matter of putting in the bigger valves or do you need bigger seats? A couple more questions... Is flycutting the pistons used just to lower compression? If I run 9.5:1 CR can I use 87 octaine? Do all F54 blocks have flat top pistons? I reall…

Hi all, I bought a '74 260Z in the last few days, and it was delivered last night. Unfortunately, I had bought it sight unseen and the seller misrepresented it somewhat. The battery was very weak but I managed to boost the car and get it running. However, none of the gauges - the tach, the oil pressure, etc - were registering anything. Are they electric like in a modern car? Could a weak battery cause them not to work? All the fuses in the box in the passenger footwell seem to be ok, are there any other fuses that would cover the instruments? PS I don't believe that any of the lights were working either, but I didn't get a chance to try. Thanks in advance, Ayan

Last year on line somewhere I thought I saw a place to buy a chromed valve cover with exchange of the old one. Don't really want the up-keep of keeping a polished one polished. Chrome or nickel plated may be what I would like to do. Was I dreaming again or does anyone know of a place? Thanks Craig

Hey Z people, I can't seem to get my Valves set right. I have tried several times and I still get the "tick" in the valve train? I have set them to 10/ intake 12/exaust and always hot. but still I get the tick. should I go to 11/intake 9/exaust? What is going on in my valve train? Matt-

Hi, My oil pressure sender was leaking when I bought the car, and I picked up another one locally. The unit they sold me is a "Standard Motor Products Inc" PS-153. I just went to the Standard web site, and this is the correct part #. However, when I pull the old one out of the block, there is a little fitting on it between the sender and the block - it seems to be an adapter of sorts. The unit that came off the car is a little smaller than the PS-153, and the PS-153 has a much smaller hole for the pressure to be read from. However, it seems to fit into the little adapter-gizmo just fine, and does have the correct bullet-type connector at the back. Do I have the right …

I tried starting my car a week ago and the battery was not so good so I hooked it up to my truck to jump it...however I never did get it to turn over. But it was acting correct when trying to start. I just tried again yesterday after replacing the plugs and having it on a charger 1/2 the day then switching the charger over from charge mode to start mode (a 50 amp output). All I got was a clicking noise. NO attempt to turn over on the car's part at all. I once knew what this problem was several years ago but now I can't remember. Can anyone out there help be diagnose this problem so I can get it fixed ASAP. I have a few other things to do to it before a car show on 3/…

Today I was helping a fellow member and checking out a Z that is for sale. The seller informed me upon arrival that he had sold the car overnight to a full price buyer from Africa. This reminded me of a scam that is being pulled here in the states. They will pay the full selling price by cashers check , but they want to cut the check for the full ammount of the car and the shipping and handeling as well as the brokers comission . Usually double the sale price of the car . You are to cash the check and two days or so the agents will arrive and do the paper work and collect the extra funds . and take the car. Here is the problem , the cashers check is a conterfit but so …

Hey guys, i was checking the intake because their was alot of carbon buildup on my spark plugs. So as i pulled the hose retiner thing off of the hose, the metal wire that holds the retainer together fell off, into my engines abyss. So i really need help on finding a site that shows me how to make a custom Intake. On top of the fact that i lost that part, i also wanted to do this before. Thanks alot guys!

this is my first post to this board so be gentle, I have a 71 240z origional engine, it has had a problem since I got it a year ago, once it gets good and warmed up, it starts bogging down, I can be racing it up to 5k in secong and then it just starts to bog for no reason, I can upshift to third and it'll bog at about 3500, up to forth and it's at like 2k, I have replaced the SU's with a set from an IT Car, I replaced the point dist with a 78 electronic and an aftermarket coil with an MSD 6t, the problem is still there, I have aljusted the valves, swithed to an electronic fuel pump with an adjustable FPR, I am out of stuff to replace, all my plugs look good, just a light…
