Well, I just learned a very important lesson, and I guess it will prove to be a very costly one too. I was installing my new water pump, and decided that the original bolts looked ok. Wrong! I guess years of heating up and cooling down created some small cracks in one of them. Just now one of the bolts (one of the LONG ones, the one at the 10 o'clock position looking from the front) had its tip break off in the front cover under about 5 ft-lbs of torque. Just about the last 1/4" of it I would estimate. Anyone have any ideas as to how to get this out? It's not easily accessible since it is about 2-2.5" back in the hole where the threads start. I really want to avoid takin…

I just had to get a new radiator in a hurry. got it from radiators.com I have a 75 280z 4spd The radiator has 2 small nipples at the bottom towards the center on the side facing the engine. I don't recall my old radiator had these, (it is still at the shop that said they wouldn't bother fixing it,) Are these for lines for an auto tranny and need to be plugged or do I just need to fumble around a while longer to figure out where they go?

This afternoon I took the zed for a bit of a blat down a nice straight empty road in the middle of nowhere. Went quite nicely up through 2nd gear, then 3rd, 4th, then just after hitting 5th at about 160km/h I see car in the distance, so hard on the brakes back down to 80km/h or so. Now when I got back on the accelerator the engine was loosing power, sort of pulsing on-off-on-off a few times a second much like when it's not getting fuel with vapour lock problems. Over the next few k's it seemed to go away, till I got home and found it wouldn't idle anymore. It'd drop to about 500rpm and splutter away. While driving it still feels ok, but sounds pretty sick/lumpy at idle. I…

Hi guys, problem #967! Here it is ... I just tuned my 72 240 su's with the ztherapy video, and wow what a differance. It ran perfect, for 2 day's:cry: . For what ever reason it started ideling really rough, I tryed adjusting the carbs but nothing I did helped. It seemed like it was an electrical problem so I check my plugs they were all brown except for the #2 plug it was sutty, so I assume that its rich or the plug wasnt fireing. So just to make sure I replace the plugs, and it still ran like crap! So I check the wire ( I held the plug to the block), it works. Now here is where it gets weird, It runs great when I get on the gas:ermm: It drives great (as far as …

Hi all, I wanted to put my car up on stands tonight to check the brakes, but a look in the "trusty" Haynes manual was not to clear up my question - where do I put the jackstands??? I figure that I can lift the car on the differential, but the Haynes manual is not very clear on where the axle stands can be placed. In the picture, it looks like the rail to which the swaybar mount is attached is a safe place - would that be sufficiently solid? It also looks like the front edge of the floor support is where to put the front jackstands... is that correct? They don't look all that structural in this car... any advice (preferably with pics!!!) would be great!! Thanks, Ayan

Nothing major , I am swaping out the 180 and going with the R-200 . The trouble I am having is the studs that are in the back of the diff. that bolt to the moustash bar are larger than the 180s that I had planned to use. WHAT SIZE ARE THE NUTS ?? I know the thread size is 1.5 but I need to know what the size is . I miked the stud and they are .510 in dia. accross the threads . Is it a 13 mm or 12mm? Thanks Gary

I am using the engine from a 280ZX in a car I am building. I chose to remove the EFI and computer stuff and replaced it with a pair of SUs from a 240Z. The SUs sat on the shelf for several years. I can't get the car to run right. Specifically, the carbs flood after I shut off the ignition. I have a low pressure fuel pump. Are there soft parts in the SUs that I can get in a rebuild kit? Ther are other problems (I think) but need to get this sorted out first. Any ideas? Dan Danley
