I FINALLY got my 260Z on the road... what a feeling! I bought a rebuild kit for the round tops from ZTherapy & followed the video on installing the stuff... adjusted the carbs and ran her through emissions just for grins & chuckles. I passed 3 of the 4 tests with flying colors, and with the emissions stuff removed or disabled. The 4th test, HC at idle, is still pretty high but the guy at the testing station said to recheck timing & idle setting. I'm taking the lady to a local mechanic who is well known for his talents at getting Zs to pass emissions; I'm letting an expert take over at this point so I won't waste $$ paying for testing until I get it right. …

I have my round top carbs & linkage for the '74. Doesn't look like it'll be too difficult to swap the flat tops out (keeping the intake manifold) In preparation for the swap, I started to drain the rad. Looked for the draincock and couldn't find it. Using a mirror, I located what looks like a brass nut with an allen wrench center where all the diagrams show the drain should be. I'm used to the drains where there's a butterfly-shaped "spigot" that you turn to drain the rad, and all the diagrams I've seen indicate this is what I should find. Any idea on how to drain this darned thing? :disappoin

I've got the SUs on the 260Z, and would like to know if I'm doing everything right so far. I'm debating using a different air breather than the stock one. So far, I've: Connected a water hose from the outlet near the firewall to the outlet on the thermostat housing (used to go through the flat top carbs) Would it be better just to plug these outlets? connected the hose that comes from the vacuum advance on the dist. to the front carb. This also seems to go to the throttle opener valve There were a few broken hoses when I pulled off the air breather, and I'm not exactly sure where they all go. The hose with the PCV valve looks to go to the air cleaner. There's another…

The parking lights all come on, but when I press the pedal my stop lights won't come on. All the fuses are good and the filaments on the bulbs are good... does it sound like the stop light switch that butts up against the pedal shaft?

Beandip needs your help clubmembers! He's been laboring very intensely on completely restoring his vehicle. He drove the car into his garage whereupon he promptly removed bumpers, front fenders, engine, transmission, interior and just about every removable piece from the car. Now, in order to assist this, he purchased a set of wheel caster beds. These allow you to rotate the car...as long as it's on a flat pad of concrete. Well, if you look closely in the picture, you'll note that "eye-level" which is what the camera was held at, is approximately right above the door panel's. This means that standing in the driveway leading to the garage at less than 10 feet distanc…

Hi, I had an I/C, DSM blow off valve, modified pop up valve, and Greddy Profec B boost control and Blitz turbo timer put on my car the past week, and the one thing I've noticed is the car is reluctant to respond to throttle inputs when restarted after a 5-30 min rest after a warm up drive (say 5 mins). I suspect it is the blow off valve, since it has been making pretty poor sounds when the car is cold, like a New Year's Party horn, which isn't the way I think these things sound-but am not sure. Does anyone know what else I or my mechanic should check? I don't think it's the pop off valve, but I don't want to just replace the blow off valve and find it's something e…

I'm looking for some advise regarding a 280ZX that I can't get started. The car is a fuel-injected '79 280ZX. The car has been sitting several years. At the time is as "stored" it was running, however nothing was specifically done to put it into storage. I've put 5 gallons of fresh gas in the tank (though did not drain it prior to adding the new gas), I can hear the fuel pump working, and there is spark at the plugs. When I first crank the engine over, within the first couple turns of the engine it sounds like its going to start and it seems to almost catch, however it doesn't start and then just cranks and cranks. If I immediately try to crank it again, it just tu…
