I own a 1973 240 Z. Few years back, I decided with my mechanic to replace the four-gear box with a five-gear box of a 260 Z, without changing the differential. I did that because there was a sound from the original gear box on the fourth gear Now, I think that this was a mistake, so I am wondering whether it would be better to leave the five gear box from the 260 Z and replace the differential with a 260 Z differential or, leave the 260 Z gear box with the 240Z differential as it is or finally, try to locate a 240 Z gear box and bring the car to its original state. Could anybody help me to locate a 240 Z gear box and generally speaking, give me an idea as to what to …

Hey guys, Im new to this forum and Im new to z cars. I just bought a 1974 260z for $1000 it needs a little work but is in pretty good shape for a grand. Interior is fairly good passanger seat is brand new driver has a couple tears, straight body except for some wholes and stuff. Runs good except when it warms up pretty good and you get on it, it starts to bog down at hight RPM's the guy I bought it from says its the carbs. Also I dont want a full body kit but the car on this site (top left hand corner) looks nice, do they just sell the front peice by itself? Can you guys give me some links to some sites that i can buy performance/stock parts from i would really appre…

i measured the ride height today from the fender to the centre of the wheel (hub). On the rear i got 14.5inchs both sides. Front i got 15inch's both sides.... No i compared that too my other 280zx 1980 model and i got 14.5 on the back and 14.5 on the front... The 1979 model was in a front end accident...so im wondering if it has caused the front end to lift up a little ? or is 14.5-15inchs alright ? thanks.

I have a junkyard dizzy in my 78 280..... My advance is not working so I thought it would be a good time to pin the dizzy at full advance.....I plan on using a machine screw to lock it at full advance......My question is this. I have a timing light with the dial on the back. At what RPM do I need to set the timing? What setting do I need to set the dial at on the back of the timing light? How much before top dead center should I set the timing to? And last but not least...... Will doing this improve the performance of my car?

I purchased some stainless hydraulic lines from MSA, including one for the clutch. While I went to start my car when I was swapping carbs I noticed some smoking by the battery. I ran around with extinguisher in hand and saw smoke coming from a now burst and leaking clutch hose. This is what I found. The plastic spurting out of the steel braiding makes it seem like there was too much pressure (doubt that's the problem). Some of the rubber at the end melted onto the hose. So that and the smoking makes be believe it was way too hot. But the car had been cooling down from running for 1/2 an hour. My only guess is that somehow there was electric current going through…
