Like an idiot I took something a apart and can't remember in the old age of my 30's how to put it back together again. I started the minor repair a month and half ago and am just getting around to completing it. Its the back rubber hoses that that go from the tank to the electric pump and then to the rail. The attached jpg explains it pretty well. I guess I should replace the fuel filter while I am at it. Just tell me what numbers go to what. Like 1 to 3 for example. Thanks for the help. -Dave

I always check out the Zed before taking it for a spin. Noticed last weekend that the block has rusty water stain on the left hand side (LHS). Traced it to the back of the head, right behind no6 cylinder. Then noticed that the stain is on the RHS of the block as well but not as much. Check rad for water and......heart lept out and stopped for the 5 seconds......CRAP....it was dry. I put 1.5 litres in it to get it up to level. Started it up and a very small trickle emerged on the LHS. Let it warm up and checked again....nothing....dry...no leak.....hmmmmmm. Took it for a mild drive, stopping and checking LHS every so often. Dry each time and also RHS. It could still have a…

Hi all! My Z is a 280z '75 and its getting about 15 to 18 mpg right now... ARGGG!! I have not done any serious upgrades to it... It is an L28 with FI 4 spd tranny. I dont drive it to hard... Just the occasional 0-60 run getting on the freeway =) I have been doing all the work myself on the car, and this Z is my 1st car I bought about a year ago. It was running on 4 cylinders due to timing and I had allitle help with a friend and we got that problem fixed and that was a huge boooooossssttttt in the cars performance. But the things that I have upgraded/changed in the car are: New coil, new spark plugs, new wires, new oil filters/oil every 3000, new air cleaner every 500…

How does one read a casting #? I have the flywheel in NY and the short block in Scottsdale, just curious which 280z I have? It appear to be a date code on the flywheel, 225 mm and says E-30, which means little, I think. Date code would tell me if I have the good block. I think the pistons were flat top, but date code should confirm this. An E-31 head that I have, seemed to have a 5/69 code on the front. Confused? Rick

Hey everyone. I am having big problems with my 1980 280ZX and i cant figure out whats wrong. See, what happens is when I am going down the road I lose all power when I push on the gas, and my car jerks and the tack drops. Then the tack comes back up and i get my power back, and it does it over and over untill it dies. It does not matter what gear it is in and it does not matter how fast im going. But if i am in nutrual i can gas it all the way up to 3000rpm and then it gets foggy. Can you help me? thanks steve :stupid:
