Hi! Just installed some dual SU's from a 240Z in my K-car and lo and behold they don't just work like a good obedient set of carbs! Life is never easy!!! It cranks over, and gets some spark, but nothing else... not even a hint of wanting to start. Tried some "Start ya bastard" but to no avail... Any thoughts? :disappoin

I am just getting into the whole thing of restoring old nissan zeds and am interested in purchasing a 240z for a first car and restoring it over time. However i have little information on doing this and the costs involved. Can someone tell me what it takes to get these cars into reasonable condition eg costs involved, common problems with these cars? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou.

I have a '73 240z with a '78 280z engine and a '79 280z 5-speed transmission. The tranny makes noise in all gears except 4th. Not horrible, just more than would be expected. It shifts easily, stays in gear, and operates beautifully. Any ideas about the noise? Thanks Bill D.

Ok my problem. The other day my battery died. It was almost dead low on water so I filled the battery up charged it and everything is great, fired right up. I take the z to work which is all highway. I have a mile to the hwy and it's running fine reving as high as I want it to rev. Get on the hwy cruising at 60-65 reving and running fine for about 3 miles. Then all of a sudden it just dogs down. I have the peddle to the floor and it won't rev higher than around 2000rpm and my speed drops down to like 25-30 mph on the hwy. I take the next exit and after a minute I can get on it again reving it as high as I want to not loosing any power. Coming home it did the same thing…

I just got my fuel tank back from Moyer renu. They did a very nice job but wnen I looked inside I noticed a baffle between the shallow tank section and the large tank section. The supply to the fuel line is in the shallow section on the other side of the baffle. The baffle is about three inches high. I do not see any way for fuel to get to the supply line once the fuel gets below the baffle level. Once the fuel is exhausted in the shallow end there would be considerable fuel in the large end that would be left with no way of getting on the other end of the baffle. Could the material they used internal to the tank closed off any pasaageway. I hope you can unders…

I just completed installing my rebuilt head. Rebuilt the carburetors and have new mechanical fuel pump. (1971 Z). I CAN NOT GET ANY FUEL TO THE CARBURETORS. The fuel tank is filled to the top. I tried blowing back air from the line at the filter but no luck. Is there something internal to the tank that would prevent fuel from getting into the fuel line? Looking for any suggestions. If I give the carburetors a shot of ether the engine runs for short time. Al Squillante

Hi all, Am attempting to remove my right rear brake drum off my 1973 240Z but it has turned into a major mission. Have tried penetrating oil, heat, hammering (with blocks of wood) but the drum refuses to budge - or even look like moving. Have followed the suggestions at Eric Neyerlins site http://www.zparts.com/tutorials/brkdrum/brkdrum_remove.html but still no sign of movement. Today I heard a suggestion of drilling some small holes through the brake drum in the area of the wheel studs which would let some WD-40 type fluid be sprayed into the problem area. Anyone have a comment on this? Michael

I'm trying to bleed the brakes on my Z. The rear went ok, albiet a little slower than I'm used to. The fronts are not building up any pressure to bleed. So to be sure the lines weren't blocked I took my air blower and blew a small amount of air down the bleeder valve and fluid came bubbling out of the master cylinder all over my new engine bay paint! ACK! I poured about 2 gallons of hot soapy water on the area and then hot clean water. Will this be enough to save the paint??? If the paint is peels I'm seriously going to sell this car the second I have it running again.....sad but true. I need some assurance here!
