Hello Everyone, I am new to this site and I am basically here to get help for my Dad. He has a 78 or 79 Datsun 280Z that is pretty good shape, BUT all the vacuum lines are disconnected(Lord knows how the car is running). He needs a diagram to show where all the vacuum line go. Does anyone know where I can find one? Thanks jwrape

please excuse me if this information is somehwere else on the board, becuse ive been looking for the past few weeks and cant seem to come up with any solutions. i have a 1978 280z thats fuel injected, its a 5 speed, and it will not pass smog. i just took it in today and the HC i ibelieve it was was around 600-800. and i think it needs to be somewhere around 100 or less, im really not sure. im not a smog expert. but he said that number is way high, and whats happening is the gas isnt getting burned for some reason, and its just going out into the emissions. what can i do to get this number down, or are there any tricks like things i can unplug to make the car just ge…

I'm picking up an engine today and will be putting it on an engine stand at the guy's house since he has a hoist and I don't. However, I have no idea what size bolts I will need to attach it! Please help, I need to get the bolts before I get to his house. Oh! The engine is from an '82 280ZX

Okay, The problems are starting. I took the z to the shop and got it aligned on a digital rack thing. I want to say it got a little better but that may just be wishfull thinking I forgot the printout at the store... The guy said it probobly needed struts and shocks all around, it sounds like WWII when i go over those little circular lane markers. steering wheel shakes back and forth about a half inch gradually up from 40. The car still veres to the right when i let go at higher speeds, but it goes the the left when I hit the brakes heavily. I just got my first z. It is a 1973 240z that I bought from a guy 100 miles out of dallas for 1800$ I am no mechanic and dont know much about these cars but I really want to learn. The car has 91k original miles repainted white beige a couple years ago(okay paint) and only has a rust spot the size of a dime on the bottom left part of the rear window next to rubber. The attached picture is of the grommet on the passenger footwell kickpanel where the cowl drain hose goes through. The drain hose has been removed. It was just loosely glued in place. I'd like to remove this grommet, since as you can see, there is a bit 'O rust on the firewall right beside it that will need to be fixed, and I suspect welding that close wouldn't do it any good. I've poked, prodded, pulled, etc. at it, and it isn't apparent to me how it is attached. It doesn't feel like how the firewall grommets just have a groove that the sheet metal fits in. ok Finally got the new motor to start now the problem is that after it starts it wont idel it revs high and then starts to die give a little gas (not much) and up goes the RPM's real high.(not good) and then gas pops through the carbs(down drafts:sick: ) then it just slowly dies out does anybody know what can be causing this thanks for your time Zclub

Hi all, has anyone got a picture of where the correct position is to place axle stands at the REAR of a Z? I couldnt find a good safe place to put them so I ended up reversing the rear of the car onto ramps, works fine... but now that I need to adjust the handbrake I need the wheels to be free moving so i'll have to revert to axle stands. Hi Guys, I've been having alot of problems with my starter and starter scelenoid on my 75' 280Z. I would turn the key, and get nothing. It is not my battery. When I would hit the starter scelinoid, It would crank up after that. I was on my way to a NJ Z club meeting today, and I parked somewhere. When I got back to the car, turned the key, nothing. I took out my magic tool (a 1/2" rachet) and I hit the scelenoid several times, I got back in, and still nothing. I took the scelenoid off and lubricated it. Now I just need to know. When I put on the scelenoid, Does the little hole in the scelenoid plunger fit around the metal tab coming out of the starter? If anyone coul…

i have 1971 240. i have a burnt out fuse in the box. the connectors that hold the fuse is not there. can that fuse be my problem? Can anyone tell me what fuse is used with the driving lights? my headlights , brake, and signal lights work. i have it at the shop but they do not seem to know what they are doing. i dont know where elso to take it. it is at a nissan dealership, but they have not seen one of these in a long time. they dont even have a shop manual. any help would be great.
