I finally got my Z running again due to a disconnected wire. I changed the oil & went to the gas station yesterday and filled her up with 94 oct. The highest grade that the station offered. I heard that you should use 92 oct but I used the higher oct instead. I think the gas is dirty. I haven't changed the fuel filter yet...Anyway, I drove her about 2 miles and came home to park her. She wasn't picking up like she should but the RPM was moving up & she was sounding like a tornado storm......FAN...about 2000 rpm. When I got home I didn't have the oil dipstick on. I started her up and she struggled to idle around 800 rpm. The fumes were very strong. She c…

Last night was my B'day so a few us met up for a feed. We headed up to the north shore and all was fine until the heavens opened up and flooded the streets. It stopped raining so we thought we'd make a run for it. After everyone went off in their own directions I was left with two other cars heading south with me. It decides to rain again. So here's me driving with very very low visibility. Every so often a huge puddle greets me and gives the underbody a good wash. We went through this one puddle where all of our cars nearly suffocated and died in the middle of the road so we gave up and pulled into a service station. What I saw under full lights got me worried. The cent…

I finnally got to start my car after many problems and after it started to warm up it started to make a god awful high pitched ungulating schreeching noise from the rear passanger side of the valve cover. it almost sounded like a loose fan belt. its an early 74 260 and i had just changed the oil not too long ago so its probably not that. it also spead up with the rpm and at idle it does it about 4 times a second.

My blinks don't work but the hazards do. They seem to have a bad connection but I can't find it. Even when they did come on they never blinked, I would have to do it manually while driving :classic: . Since that flashers work I am guessing the problem lies in the dash somewhere, or in the steering column. Does this problem sound familiar. I know it can't be the turn signal because I just got it, along with the ignition. ??? Frankenstein Z

hi, this must be one of my lucky days. we dont work every other friday. i decided to go to the junk yard. there i saw a 1990 300zx. wreck in front, motor is still there. trans is gone but the rear-end (differential) is still there. i move one wheel and look on the other side, hmm there moving in one direction. i am already excited...remove all the junck under the car and find a clean carpet..i remove the differential. this is how it looks like. looks like a r200 but the back cover has fin at the lower part. the stub on each side move in the same direction as the opposite side. it must be an LSD. my problem is can i install it in my 240z. it looks like the shaft are diffe…

When I took my 72 240z to get inspected, the parking lights and taillights just stopped working. I took it home and cleaned the contacts on the fuse for those lights and it came on fine. (this being after removing the cover to the steering column to check on the combination switch which i did not remove/modify/mess with etc and put it back on). My problem is that I have everything else working and now my turn signals no longer function as they had before today. When I try to activate either signal, I get no clicks or dash indicators and the lights do not blink. Any ideas what could be wrong? I removed the steering column cover again and visually inspected the mechanism a…

I had a chance at a 76 280z a few days ago and jumped on it. The guy I bought it from says the last mechanic said it had an air problem, somewhere in the conversation it came up the mechanic said the engine was worn, sounded like timing to me... Anyways, I drive this thing home praying its gonna make it, popping backfiring , yadda yadda. As soon as I get off work yesterday I run home to play with it. First thing I find is brand new plug wires, angle boots on cap but the connectors were straight and 3 werent even close to being in the cap and 2 werent all the way connected at the spark plug end, I was happy as a pig in, well , you know. I thought I was gonna get off easy..…
