I purchased two new gaskets for my 240 rear diff. I thought this would be a no brainer. I also purchased an air tool set up and a new compressor. I figured It was time to get serious with my Z. I put it up on JAck stands and started to look around. It looks as though I have to drop the front cross member for the rear diff and also the two cross bars that connect it to the body. With this done the rear I-bean fall down for the rear tires and the diff starts to fall. Am I doing this all wrong. I really need to replace the seal and clean this unit up.

Can a bad AFM prevent your Z from starting/flooding? My plugs aren't soaking wet but smell like gas. These are my 2nd set of plugs. B4 I had the Bosch and now I have the NGK's. I haven't done anything to the AFM yet but wanted to have it looked at before I take it to the Z tech in my area.....The connection is on at the bottom but I haven't been able to examine it THOROUGHLY!

I just need to know what all is involved in switching from a L24 to a L28 I have a 1978 L28 and i have a 73 240z that needs to be rebuilt but i wan't to know if i should just swap them and how much of a change would it be could i use my cannanon intake and weber carbs would I have to swap the trans? Thanks

hey, for all you z guru's! i'm ready to assemble my rear struts with the 280z stub axles-new bearings, seals, etc. but i don't have the copper [like] washers that go on either side of the steel spacer and between the bearings. i called the dealer, they can't get them either. anyone put them back together without the washers? any problems? any ideas? help?!?!

Yikes my truck is causing trouble and my wife needs the family car and I have to have wheels tomorrow. Here's my problem: My driver's side door won't close. Background: I replaced the door latch, outside handle, and all of the rubber for the driver's side door over the winter. This entailed removing the guts of the door and putting it all back together, which in itself wasn't that hard but I'm not a mechanic so maybe there's tricks to putting car doors together that I don't know about. Needless to say the door isn't working too well. I have to slam it really really hard to get it to latch. not a good thing for a 31 year old car door. Suspect: I think the door has sagged.…

My oil pressure drops right off when I pull up at the lights (almost down to the bottom of the guage) but then builds back up to 1/2 way when moving along. Is this right with a zed or is something stuffed??? help!!!! G

what would cause me engine to die at speed in my 240? the electrical pump works correctly, and the mechanical pump is a few years old. could it be the mech. pump? ususally when the engine dies, i can restart it immediately and it will run , and sometimes it will die again as soon as i hit the gas pedal. i have made no adjustments to the carbs since my mechanic set them up about 2 years ago. i don't think it's an electrical problem because i just replaced the battery and alternator. (when the engine dies, the radio and lights stay on).

Can these cause your Z not to turnover? I know your car can stall or cutoff if these are not stableand/or disconnect while driving. . I changed these ( 75 only have 2 ) last AUG. I checked the coil, dist wires, battery cables. Those are ok...It's getting gas to & thru the fuel filter. The car has been sitting since late summer 2002. It was driving before I bought then.

Hello all got another question I was wondering if you could dose me with your knowledge. This weekend with the help of a Z expert here on Long Island I cleaned my sus took them apart and installed new Z Therapy Kits. Everything is fine just about. The car runs well. The only problem I still have is the Idle will not return unless I jump on the throttle. I know that idle return can be slow in these cars. If I adjust the Idle screw then once the idle goes down it's then to low. Before I jump the accelerator it's staying up at around 1000-1200 rpm. The Idle is set at around 750. Any Thoughts on this matter? Thanks Burt:stupid:
