I'm about ready to take the non functioning clock out of the dasboard. I am considering folding down the cardboard in the glove box to do it. Anyother easier suggestions. I purchased another clock, bought it on ebay and i'm waiting for it. The seller seems to be a bit unreliable. Anyway can I test the new clock by hooking it up to the car batterry on positive or is that a positively stupid question. I did see where some of you folks hooked it up to one of those big batteries. What do you think. cardogman1 Burt

i am not sure what to ask. i install a 280zx motor(P90A head/F54 block). the car overheated. i gues its because of the burst rubber hose but the mechanic said its because i use a wrong head gasket. My question is what year 280zx should i say and should i say it has turbo. i dont know.. i bought the head from a junk yard and i did not see a turbo on the car, and i bought the F54 short block from a Z-car person in glendale. The mechanic said that i need more holes on the gasket. what year should i say the motor is when the part store ask for the year of the car? help hardie

I have a 73 240 z and the first time I attempted to start the engine after a rebuild(actually first time ever since I purchased it) I noticed that the electric fuel pump runs continuously when the ignition is on and the engine is not running. Is this normal? Is there no pressure cutoff switch? The pump is pumping gas when I test it and there is no return line to recirculate the gas. Thanks, Victor.

Trying to get the master cylinder out. Can't get the lines undone. Someone mentioned a special wrench that would not round off the nuts. Is this the one? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=20774&item=2084786019

Ok, this may sound stupid (in fact it does sound stupid...) but I can't get the hatchback door open on the 240Z that I just bought. Saturday I bought a 1971 240Z, beat-up, and with 20 year old tires... and I can't get the hatchback door open. My son crawled into the back and removed all the interior panels, and I tried to remove panels from the outside, but no matter what we tried, we cant get the latch to open. (Yes, we tried the key... ;-) ) The car has been in storage (indoors thankfully) for more than 10 years, so I think the latch may be rusted shut. Perhaps it was broken all that time... Anyway, if you have any suggestions, please help...

Hello all. I purchased an adjustable proportioning valve for use with my rear disc conversion on my 240Z. According to the instructions, increasing the valve, increases the pressure to the rear brakes. My question is: does restricting the flow increase pressure?? I blew through the "IN" side while turning the valve. The more I turned in the "increase" direction, the harder it was to blow through it..... can anyone explain this to me??

I just tried to start the car and nothing happened. The battery seems to be almost dead. I didn't leave the lights on or anything so I don't know what is going on. A few weeks ago I put a new battery in it, a good one with plenty of turnover power and it has been starting nicely everytime. Could it be something wrong in the electrical wiring? For some odd reason, lately the dash lights only come on when I apply the breaks and the radio won't work. I noticed when I was driving home from work Friday evening that the alternator needle was a little below the midway mark and usually it stays a little above the midway mark, that was the last time I drove the car. Any ideas? Tha…

hi everyone, i replace my 240z(72) motor with a 280z motor from an 83. it was very powerful motor compare to my dying 240 motor. i use it for 1 day, and unluckily i burst a water hose(old) and the motor overheated. head gasket is broken. i replace it (my first time). everything went smoothly except when i am about to install the sprocket and timing chain. it just wont reach the cam. i lift the sprocket with the cherry picker it wont go, i use a crowbar to left it , nothing move, i turned the crank to check if i have a kink down the crank, nothing , it turns ok. if you have done this before, or have an idea how i can install it without opening the whole front, please let …

so i've been having a shaking in the rear, felt like my tires needed to be balanced, so i checked them out, and each tire is missing quite a bit of rubber, making them out of round, so i decided to get new tires. took away some of the shaking, but the majority is still there, i was wondering what i should do to fix this. it shakes just slightly when i coast at high speeds, but shakes pretty bad when i put on more gas. so i guess its not tires, its not struts cuz i just changed the cartridges, what is it now? i'm all open. thanks.

Hey, I work on lots of VWs and brakes are a snap. I'm getting a 240z for free (1973) and I was wondering how easy brakes are... are the rears drums? The car has been sitting for a few years in Oakland, CA and the rotors are rusted-frozen... What's it gonna take to replace the rotors / drums. I have a lot of exp working on VWs (clutch jobs, brakes, susp, exhaust work etc... and am an engineer...) Thanks!
