Im almost ready body-wise to drop in a power plant. I've got a VG30, which I was planning to slot in, but have decided to go with a stock motor, so I can just get the thing back on the road. Thing is, I sold the original one! (oops) So, what I want is a ready to run reco motor, that I dont have to mess about with too much. What I am wondering, is wheres the best place to go, sort of canberra / sydney (maybe melbourne) area? Or should I just keep scouring the Trading Post. Any ideas, plugs welcome.... Oh, I need a box too.... How much should I pay for the lot?

Well I got my new header on and my intake back on, but now I can't get my idle to settle down. It's idling at like 3000 RPM, and I think the thottle shaft is somehow not closing all the way. When I took the intake off, the fast idle screw (tune-up screw) was pretty much flush against that metal plate, not there's about an 1/8th of an inch space, and I can't figure out why. I took the intake assembly off as 1 entire piece... I had it resting on some rolled up newspapers... anything on the underside that could've gotten bent that would do this?

Ok I'm about ready to turn my Z around in my garage. I need to spin it around to remove the engine but almost all of my suspension is off. I bought some casters rated at 330lbs each. I was thinking of making a cart for the front using 4 of these and support the back with the other two. Any ideas if this is enough? THe car is almost completely stripped - all interior, body panels, suspension, rear diff, all glass, wheels etc. Only thing left is basically the engine, tranny and frame. Will a cart rated at ~1300lbs work for the front? What about 660 for the back? Thanks for the help. I can't wait to get this engine out !! MIchael

I've checked for spark by arcing one of the spark plug wires to the shock tower bolts - that works fine. I've checked for fuel - pulled off all three weber dcoe 40 covers and looked inside and the fuel level is identical in all three and pictured below. I've tried to start the car while pumping gas and it overflowed a bit, leaking a couple drops out from where air horn goes into carb body - let it sit and tried and again and did not work. starter is cranking over normally engine is turning because i do hear air exiting out of my header (yes I am running only header for right now). I had the full '73 flat top su shenanigans on there up until last night when I yanked …

My rear end is leaking (differential, third member, R-180). I noticed that it is coming out of the vent doo-hickey. When I filled it I made sure not to over fill. Is this a common problem? Any suggestions on how to make it stop?

Ok folks, we have a '73 240z (w/ 71/72 SU carbs) that has been sitting for about four years or so. It was started once about a year ago. We are trying to get her back to running (racing!) condition. And keep in mind that our car budget is shared with our beer budget - so everything must be done as economically as possible! So far we have: 1)rebuilt carbs (but not tuned them, obviously) 2)cleaned out gas tank to the best of our ability 3)cleaned out gas lines w/ compressed air. 4)replaced air and fuel filters. 5)new spark plugs, wires seem ok 6)changed oil and filter 7)broke and fixed fuel pump 8)new battery 9)currently trying to connect all vacuum hoses - read our oth…

I got the chokes adjusted thanks to help found here and some from my repair manual but--. The car sat for about 1 1/2 years with a partly filled tank. Got the car running and had carbs cleaned out about 4 months ago. But once in awhile the car just stops dead. Turns over fine but won't go. Sometimes it will start after sitting a few hours but this time no go. I put some water remover in. I believe that scale from the tank is fouling the jets, or what ever. If this is the case, how does this stuff get by the fuel filter? Is there an easy way to clear this stuff from the carb and get the car running. Long term do I need a new tank or can they be cleaned? 1972 wit…
