I just got my 73' z back today after spending 3 1/2 months in the shop. It had an automatic transmission that gave out and a motor with flat tops on it so I had them put a motor from a 71' parts car into it and a 4 speed and clutch from a 72' into it . I guess they did the heavy work (installing the motor, tranny, etc.) and gave up on getting it running. I can get they motor to turn using a remote switch the let me borrow. I get power to the yellow wire going to the coill, but no spark at the plugs. The motor won't turn using the key (it used to). I saw in Haynes manual that the wiring for a auto has a thermo switch, thermo relay, and inhibitor switch. Do I have to el…

I have a 1973 240z, Current setup is three webers, Motorsport headers, Malory dual point. (yeah I know obsolete) but I am an old guy and like tunning my engine. The car runs fine when cool to med warm and has no trouble getting to about 6500 rpm. But after reaching normal oerating temp it feels like I'm hitting a rev limiter at about 5200rpm. I'v tried timing changes, fuel octane changes, added a new fuel pump (carter electric) readjusted everything I can think of. I'm running out of new ideas. Any thoughts?

I have a 72 240Z that is extremly hard to start. When I crank it over it sounds like its wants to start, but doesn't. Then some times it does for a second or so then dies. This car was so dependable I use to brag on it. Start it and go no problems no worries. Well I let it sit for about a year...finally took it to a shop who got it running... I drove it home. Went back out to wash it, went to start it....same old thing. Man....all help and suggestions gladly welcome and appreciated.Oh...when I went to pick up the car today it sounded like a champ! The mechanic said he fixed some linkage, balanced the SU's and adjusted the valves.

Does anybody know what size wire the fusible links are? 14ga, 16ga, or 18ga? The little metal plug part of mine just broke and I need to replace it, but Autozone only carries them by wire size. Does anybody know the size?

Hey my signals in my Z just went dead. Totally and completely. I've been in cars where dead meant they would just come and and be solid, therefore prompting you to manually click it on and off. Mine are dead. Turn the signal on and no light. Both were working great yesterday, no hesitation, no worries. Any thoughts? Suggestions?

I've been told you can use a 280Z pressure plate with a 240Z clutch plate provided you have a 280Z collar.....I have a 240Z flywheel if that makes any difference.....the motor will have between 250-275 horsepower...any suggestions or comments would be great.....

I dont know what happened, but I was driving today, and I glanced at my oil pressure and it was at the far left of the gague. I looked under the hood, it doesn't look like anything is broken. and oil isn't leaking anywhere. what could cause this? earlier this year I had the same problem and it was just a bad connection. I just replaced it and it got fixed. But that connection is good now, so I don't know what to do. help please

i was driving my 240Z all night and then i just parked it for an hour or so then when i came back to my car to drive home i noticed a bumping noise like my wheel was hitting something so i pulled over and checked my car out and my car was sitting about 2 inches lower than normal....my tires were fine but my diff was almost touching my exhaust pipe and i reached under the wheel well in front and felt that the inside tire was touching the spring/strut assembly!! then i checked the other 3 wheels and found that all 4 of my tires were rubbing against the shock/springs!! i could barely even fit my hand inside the wheel wells of the back wheels as my car was sitting so low...wh…

Well, as my synchro has gone in 2nd my father, a mechanic we know and myself are going to take apart my gearbox next week and replace whatever needs replacing (hopefully just the synchro). My question to you is how long do you think it will take if everything goes to plan, and is there anything we should know before ripping the box out?

Hi, I Just installed an Electronic Distributor from an 81 on to my 73. When I crank it over the engine won't start. Then when I let the key go from "start" to "on" it fires right up. I used my volt meter and found the wire that supplies 12v to the resistor when the ignition is in the on position and used it for the 12v supply to the module on the distributor. I followed the diagram in: Any help?

Hello everyone, it is my first time posting here and I hope someone might have advice for me. A few nights ago as I pulled up to a stoplight in my 72 240, the resistance in the clutch gave way and the pedal went right to the floor. Oddly, I heard a slight ticking comng from exactly where I saw the fliud run out the bottom of the car. It is a metallic tick, like to pieces of metal not quite missing eachother. The next day I got the car into the nearest shop that was open for the holiday, and they fixed cylinder- I don't remember the name at the moment. It is a small pump attached to the side of the transmission. Anyway, with the clutch working again I set out, but immedi…
