Because I can't get to the parts shop to buy the parts I need for my carb swap without a car and my car isn't working because the carbs are misbehaving (I think). I thought I'd have another look to see if I could identify the starvation problem because it seems to be intermitent (see my other postings). Anyway when I started the engine one of the water inlet hoses to the heater inside the car split and I now have half an inch of water in the bottom of my Z. My question is: Will by-passing the heater by linking the in/out hoses to/from the block cause any long term problems. I only need to drive the car a couple of miles to get it to my mechanic's to do the job for me. No…

As a new member, I hope I'm using this forum correctly. Can anyone tell me if the fuel tank on a '75 280Z 2+2 is interchangeable with the tank on a '75 2-seater? If so, does it follow that the 2-seater 280Z model tanks in '76 - '78 are also interchangeable with the '75 2+2?

Now here is a question for all you turbo junkys...... From my understand the compression on a stock turbo with a P90 head and dished pistons is 7.8:1 correct ( sorry if im a little off thats from memory ) When you mix flat top pistons with a p79 head produces an estimated compression ratio of 8.8:1..... now here is the question... What if you were to take flat top pistons and a P79 and installed them on a turbo for the compression ratio of 8.8 : 1....this would increase your torque over what you used to have because of the raised CR ( right? ) but still be a low enough compression that with an intercooler could produced the high end power of a turbo motor? now i dont know…

My car ran fine the last time I drove it (Saturday) but suddenly this morning started & ran like crap all the way to work. (At first I thought it was just because it was so humid out.) I don't have any real tools here to diagnose it with, but it felt like it wasn't firing on all cylinders. So, I checked the plugs to see if any were wet, and 2 and 4 were. I started her up, and with the engine running, popped off plug wire #2: no difference in idle. Put it back on. Popped off #4: no diference in idle. Removing 1,3,5, and 6 one at a time effected idle, so I'm guessing that 2 and 4 aren't firing for whatever reason. I waited a few hours and tried starting her again, but…

I have a 77 280Z. I have replaced the fuel pump, injectors, coil, plugs, wires, fuel filters, distributor cap, rotter button, and the brain. The car starts and runs great for a few minutes, the it boggs out like it is only running on three cylinders. Then in a few more minutes it starts running well agian. I am at my wits end with this car. Any help that can be offered would be wonderful. The only problem is I like it to much to shot it.... :~) HA..HA..

i've been working on my car for the last while, and i finally got it to a point where it is startable. my problem is that my stinkin' car won't stay running for more than a second! the starter is working for sure, but i have to hold the key -beyond- the 'on' position to keep it going! i imagine that the ignition switch has something to do with it, but i'm not sure !!! i wouldn't want to spend money if i don't need to! thanks
