I blew the fuse that runs the dash lights, tail lights, side marker lights. After I turned the dash light dimmer switch, replaced the fuse. All was fine for a while, but then it happened again. Now as SOON as I replace the fuse it blows. What may be causing this? This is in a 1976 280z Could it be the dimmer switch?

Hi everyone! I have a few problems, but I'm going to do my best to keep this short and simple. I've spent a few years looking for a 240z project car in the $500-$2000 range. I recently found a 1972 Datsun 240z that I was very excited about and 100% intended to purchase. Believe it or not, I found it sitting in a front yard in the middle of nowhere, Kentucky. I approached a gentleman standing in the yard and asked him what he knew about the car. He told me that he intended to fix up the car with his grandson, but still might be willing to sell it. The man gave me an amazing price which was exactly what I was looking for. I've struggled to keep in touch with him because I l…

I am building a “76” 280z and I bought it from this guy and he said he was going to do a SR20det swap and it came with the car so I’ve been looking and I can’t find a good wiring harness for the “94-98” SR20DET so it would be very helpful if anyone can send me in the right directions to find one.

The higher pitch is me blipping the throttle. When coasting it's quite and on acceleration where the engine is actually pushing i.e. going down hill faster than gravity, it has this whine. The last transmission flush had an inch of shavings on the magnetic drian plug. I have a 4 speed 260z and a unknown welded diff. Plans to swap out to spare open diff. and swap in a 5 speed 240sx transmission. Any info on that swap would be helpful to have!!! PS 75mph is actually 60mph

Hey guys, I had an issue with my 78 280 where the defrost didn’t work and I had no heat. I knew my heater core was plugged up. So I took my dash off, ready to do a heater core swap with a 01 escort described here on the fourms. That all went well and the heater core is in. But before re installing the dash I decided to test it, but the problem has changed. There is still cold air coming out of the center vents. But I stick my hand down into the defrost tube and I feel hot air! So I felt the heater core tubes and it’s getting coolant just fine. And according to the attached diagram when the heat is on, only the floor vents and Defog is supposed to work, but air …

Does anyone have a source for part #1 (upper quarter window seal) in the above diagram? This part is used on all 70-78 Z coupes. I have rebuilt both quarter windows - inner and outer seal and weather strip. I have door seals. But there are two additional pieces for the quarter window an upper and lower quarter window seal. The lower (small, rectangular) piece is available. None of the usual suspects (vintage rubber, precision rubber, thezstore,, zcardepot, zcarsource) have the upper seal. Thanks in advance.

Good day to all, I am a first time Datsun owner, and looking forward to some fun with my new 56k mile survivor. When I acquired the car, it had been sitting for ??? years in the possession of a daughter who's mother had died and left her the car. I purchased the car in belief that it was sorted by a mediating broker, but within the first 30-40 test miles I noticed a hiccup (slight miss) when I feathered the throttle from acceleration to less than acceleration. I figured it was just because it had not been run in such a long time, and inquired to the seller who assured me it was sorted when it was re-comissioned. I removed the plugs and they looked 40 years old so…

I have a 1978 280z that I've recently put back together after rebuilding the engine, rust work, and paint. I've gotten the car to the point that it has run three times for various lengths of time. The second time running, I timed it and got it as close as possible but ran out of adjustment on the distributor. When it ran this time I had it on for around 25 minutes and with the initial break-in done decided to go for a ride. I made it 1/2 a mile down the road before it died grabbing fourth and wouldn't run afterward. After an emergency tow home, it would briefly fire up for maybe one second and then die. The next afternoon I tested to see if I had fuel flowing to the rail …

Hey, I just put some 3-2 headers on my 78 EFI z and once I cranked it over and got it warmed up, it doesn't run right. I have 32 psi fuel pressure, labeled all connectors and lines when I took them off. I can't see where I went wrong. It is running extremely rich, will not rev, needs gas pedal to start. It sound like I am missing spark but I'm not sure how this would have happened? I didn't touch the distributor at all. Thoughts? I can post some pictures of the engine if that would be helpful.
