I am new to the forum and new to Zs. Please be gentle. My 1975 Z very likely has a rusty fuel tank and filter. Tried dropping the tank yesterday (with a broken right arm, in a cast, in the cold) so I could send it out for restoration. My nephew and I were unsuccessful in disconnecting the wires from the tank/sending unit. Is there a trick to disconnecting the female plastic part (to the sending unit) from the male rubber part (to the power supply)? Does it pull apart with force or does it require an intermediate step?

I am battling an overheating issue on a 71 240 with 2.8 block, E31 head Back ground: the car was sitting for almost 19 years, got it gunning and driving couple of month a go. Replaced the radiator with a now 3 core aluminium job (came with a cap), also took it to a radiator shop and tested for flow, its perfect. replaced water pump (bearing was gone) new thermostat Mechanical fan, good clutch back flushed the system car was running hot and overheating so I picked up a block test, sure enugh it turned yellow. Hey, I'm new to the car community in general and looking to start my first build project with a Datsun 280Z. I've been going through autotrader, cargurus and some japanese sites to find a suitable base car to work on. I chose the 280Z over the 240 mainly because of the EFI and taillight design. For appearance, I will definitely be swapping out the front bumper .-. as soon as I can. Also thinking of adding side skirts and a widebody kit. As for the engine I am still considering whether to stick with the stock L28 or swap to a RB26. I'm also thinking of doing other modifications to the manifold, turbo, fuel system, suspension and sway bar in the near future. …

. Hey guys, I have replaced the heaterhose tubing that protrudes from the firewall, but that was not the cause of the leak. I am assuming this part ( part in photos) is a heater water temp sensor . Question is where can I find a new one?? I found a rust hole in the flood pan and am 99% sure this leak is the cause. The leak from this valve is a steady drip even while not running. My car is in hopefully the finale stages of body work I am looking for a solution I lost the brackets that I cut off my original 240 z that hold the tail light surrounds at the bottom section of the tail lights thanks.

First off i want to thank everyone that has helped me with my project 240. So it starts!! Now trying to tune and sync the carbs. Having trouble with a super high idle aroung 1300rpm with timing set advanced around 12 degrees, any lower and the car diesels and backfires. the engine revs smooth unless you blip the throttle , in which case it bogs for a sec and climbs. i have not driven it yet(still need work on suspension and brakes). any other guys with webers have any input on this? as far as timing? what dizzy to go with? also, the lights flickers and ammeter goes nuts in car. does not happen all the time, it does smooth out and when it goes crazy, there …

Howdy everyone, I've got a rebuilt L28 I just got running in my 78 280z. I'm having issues with my idle. It sits at about 1100rpm and runs very rich, plugs had black soot all over the tips after about 15 minutes of idling. It also runs very poorly at lower RPMs. Here's what I've done so far: Vacuum check by taking off oil cap with engine running. Engine died, which I've read means I have decent vacuum? Throttle position sensor: I've got two of them, one on the car and one spare. Adjusting them either way increases and decreases idle, but disconnecting the cable makes no difference. Swapping one for the other makes no difference, despite one being in far …

I bought a '72 240 for my son for Christmas. Going to give it to him on Christmas morning.....It's going to be awesome! I want to give him some small things as gifts that he can use to restore/maintain the car. The basics: -- The care is in pretty good shape. Solid daily driver w/ no rust. Mostly original interior and engine.
