Bouncing MPH? 1 2

Hello all Ok so this past weekend I took my Z out for a nice ride. As I live in Tucson and only really drive to school and back on week days I rarely ever really get it going over 35. Well yesterday I had it going a "bit" faster. While cruising back home I noticed that my speedometer bounces at 45mph. Most of my drive was on some nice long and twisty mountain roads so I wasn't really pay attention to the speedometer as much as the road and thus I didn't notice if was occurring at higher speed. Has anyone had this problem? I run REDLINE MT-90 in the transmission and RL 75w90 in the rear. Any help would be great Jan

The engine compartment in my 70 Z was treated to a less-than-stellar, engine-in re-spray by the PO when the main bodywork was painted. Incomplete coverage, quick-and-dirty masking. I'm hoping to remedy that, but I'd like to get some opinions on how to go about it. Here's where things stand at the moment: Engine is still in the car, but completely stripped. Only the block, head, valve cover, timing cover and oil pan are still in place. Exhaust downpipe still attached to the main pipe. Just hanging in open space. Could be removed, I suppose, if it helps with paint gun clearance. Firewall, fender aprons, and rad bulkhead stripped pretty much clean of…

So I have combed the manual, and while I am sure its clear there for you guys I am not confident I have the following torque specs and sequence correct. I am wanting to know how to torque the rear control arm bushings, and what sequence it should be done in to reduce squeaking and unintended performance. Specifically: 1) the two bolts on the Front differential support cross member surrounding the bushing 2) the end bolt on the control arm facing the front of the car (by the front diff support) 3) the end bolt on the control arm facing the back of the car (by the rear traverse link mount) 3) the two bolts, long and short sandwiching the lower control arm …

Wussup guys Im having an issue with my brakes. Ive been searching but cannot seem to find what I am looking for. Sorry if its a little long. I have a 1978 280z. Went to take it out for a little drive around the block just to get it running and making sure everything still works. When I pulled out of the driveway when a few feet and my brakes were almost non existent. The pedal became very hard to push and barely stopping the car even when going 10mph. So I decided after researching that the master cylinder is probably going bad and mostly the brake booster needs to be replaced (Seemed like still original parts) So I ordered a new master cylinder an…

Oh so wise Z community! I need your assistance desperately! I have a short... Somewhere! I currently have, running lights at all. I also have no dash lights, marker lights, tail lights, or engine light. I believe the dome light is also not working. What I do have is headlights, turn signals, brake lights, map light, and radio. When I change the fuse (tried 3 times) it immediately flashes and burns.. So much so that I burned my finger. Oh wise ones! You direction and help is very needed! Thanks much! Kira The lil z lady

I have finally removed the aberration of an aftermarket stereo the PO of my '72 had installed. Just to give you an idea of how bad the install was, the radio was shimmed with a dried sponge and some foam. It wasn't screwed in at all!!! Any way, I got it removed, but I have to rewire the original stereo. **** WARNING - ELECTRICAL MORON ALERT! ***** Unfortunately, I failed Electrical 101 - I don't really know how to read a schematic, but I can "connect red wire to red / white wire" etc. Does anyone have details of what wire goes where in a '72 240Z? I see 2 pairs of wires coming from the back under the console (I believe green and green/blue and gray and gray/blue) tha…

Hi Guys This wil be my fist post here , recently got myself a 1972 240z resto that needs finishing . My last project was an R33 GTR that i am much more familiar with I need help with the wiring loom , i have managed to repair and rewrap the engine bay loom and rear lighting loom as they were fairly obvious but there is a ton of connectors and broken wires under the dash . I downloaded the field service pdf's that show the connectors for the instrument loom , but it does not say what the connectors are for , or what they plug into . Is there a more complete connector / wiring diagram for the dash of this car ? My other option is to pull out the dash a…

The driver side tailgate hinge snapped off on the hatch door side last night when I was opening the hatch !! On closer inspection it looks as if it had been glued from factory, not welded. I will be taking the hatch door off to repair and re-attach the hinge tonight but would appreciate any forum members' experience with this issue.

I'm trying to get my ac going and my mechanic says I need a new expansion valve. Of course I realize these are NLA. I did a search to see if there were any past suggestions on whether these can be reconditioned (cleaned) and only found a few old posts from 2012 or earlier which didn't help much. So I thought I'd ask the question again in case someone has more recently come up with a solution for a bad A/C expansion valve. I did see where there is an aftermarket evaporator with an expansion valve included for $385 plus you have to take most the dash apart to install it. Otherwise, just changing the expansion valve looks fairly easy. So has anyone found a source for a repla…
