I was just curious what everybody currently adjusts their idle at. According to the Hayne's Manual, they had idles down at 550 and 700, where as my timing light recorded mine at about 1060. What is a correct idle, and what do all you have yours set at? Thanks all

I have just recently bought my 240z. I bought your carb tune up video, which help a lot, and was able to rebuild my carbs. I used a cheep 20 dollar rebuild kit from autozone. This only had gaskets and fuel line. I decide not to use the needle/seat it came with because it broke while trying to install. I reused my old ones. I'm pretty sure this might be causing my richness problems but I was wounding if the N45 needle or nozzles could also cause my motor to run rich? I'm most likely going to buy the needle/seat and SM needle from Ztherapy . Should I also replace the nozzles?

Can anyone describe the attachments to the stock air box, or send to a site with a diagram? I have an early 71 Z, and I just bought an airbox off ebay. I'm not 100 percent sure which hoses hook up where. My car came with a couple pair of aftermarket filters, but Ive heard the aftermarkets may not be that great without air horns?? Anyway, I think i'd like to hook up the old box to see if there is any noticable difference in looks and feel. ( I did note it weighs alot more than aftermarket!) Also, I have that little Kand N breather filter hooked up to my valve cover, Ive heard that might actually not be a good idea, whats the story on that?

Howdy, Have noticed a couple of 72-73 air boxes that are blue ..almost a Carolina blue in color. What's the deal with orange versus blueboxes...... Searched "blue air box" with no luck One on a ahem...very clean car advertised as 40-50000 mile 73 240...but with early SUs. thanks, David Spillman

If anyone's got the mikuni manual handy there's a formula in there where based on combustion chamber volume, etc etc it outputs I believe a good ballpark jet size to start from for a given engine configuration... -e

Hello everyone Surfing through ebay, I see air filters that are advertised as NOS or say it's been sitting in a garage or on some store shelf for 20 years or so and it makes me wonder if there is a shelf life for these filters. This would also go for oil and fuel filters and others. I don't know if the filter material would start to break down and disintegrate. Other then technology changes, is there any reason not to use NOS? Skip

I am in the process of removing the N33 intake and webers on my 1973 z and installing SU's from a 1972. I have the complete set up (E88 intake - carbs - and linkage) from the 1972. My problem is that the rod that the bell crank is mounted on is shorter than the 1972 bell crank. The 1973 uses a shorter profile bell crank. It appears that the rod is welded into the firewall bracket and the bracket is spot welded to the firewall. I am hoping that one of the members has done this mod and has found a solution. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

while my car is running, it sounds like there is a squeak in the area of the intake manifold. i think it's a vacuum leak or something, maybe a busted diaphram. any ideas? my car isn't really running right which is why i ask... just troubleshooting...
