Looking for an electric fuel pump in Oz. Did any of the later 260 or carbed 280's have an electric fuel pump? What about a new pump what pressure and flow rate should I get for a L28 With SU's? Any info would be appreciated. Gavin

Hey I got a carb synch tool and worked on balancing my carbs on my 71 this weekend. I think I did ok, the car is running pretty good , although it wasn't that far off, but i have a question about setting the carb mixtures. When I lifted a piston in one carb to check the mixture, the engine continued to run ..roughly, so i'm told that means my mixture is a bit rich. OK, so when i went to raise the piston in the other carb she started to die, so that means Im running a bit lean. Does this mean when i raise a piston in one carb, the engine symptoms point to the condition of that carb, or the one I'm not raising the piston in?? This may sound like a dumb question, but some…

Moyest has a really great coupla threads going on his recent Weber install and he brings up a couple of the points I wanted to reiterate here, but didn't want to hyjack his thread. This thread is about Mikuni's, and they aren't installed yet. I shopped for at least a month for a set of triples until I found this guy: Wolf Creek Racing . I shopped for mani's alone for 200-500, a single here for $150 and a double there for $500 and numerous sets of triples for anywhere from 750 - 1500. I'm not saying these type of deals won't work for someone, but for me Wolf Creek is a BARGAIN. Here is his first e-mail and I will tag on a couple a pix of the work. Steve, You happen …

If anybody shops at AutoZone Here are some part numbers I went and looked up thinking of you 240 owners. For an OE type pump I found Beck/Arnley #151-5725 $66.90. This is not a lifetime warranty pump. I did not pull one out of the box to check it out. I realize now that I should have. I will go back to do this latter. For those of us that have '70-'72's I found a universal pump. Master universal fuel pump #E8016S. This is wired through the oil pressure switch according to the instructions. 2.5-4.5 lbs. 12V. This is a lifetime warranty pump. Which means at AutoZone if it ever goes out you get a new one free. $34.99. Comes with a bracket and acouple pieces of hos…

Awooga. I don't have choke plates on my webers right now, no big deal. I pulled back my choke at a light the other day, and the engine reved to 3K from it's sub 1000 sleep. So now it seems like I have 2 gas pedals. It feels like I can get more power when say driving up a hill and using the choke. Is this in my head? I smell more fuel then after some hard acceleration using it. I'm assuming this is the same thing as pushing the gas pedal in and revving it higher in a gear, but if someone could enlighten me as to what's going on, I'd be interested.

I've been trying unsuccessfully to track down an over-rich idle problem when hot. So I'm really sensitive to anything with fuel system right now. Today I noticed when I pulled into the garage with a full tank of gas, that when I turned the engine off I could hear a bubbling sound coming from the gas tank. It went on for about a minute after shut off. As an experiment, I turned the ignition back on wihtout starting the engine to get the electric fuel pump running. The bubbling sound began again. I let it go like that for about another minute then shut it off. This time the bubbling sound went on for several minutes. It sounds like the gas is boiling in the lines in…

Has anyone ever heard of or seen this carb on a Z? In the Haynes manual it says "Early 240Z and 260Z cars without emission control are fitted with a 'DAF' dual barrel type carburettor. This unit is of downdraught, fixed jet design and incorporates an accelerator pump and power valve." The Brittish spelling leads me to believe that they were not equipped that way here. I could post pictures if anyone would like but this is basically just to satisfy my curiousity.

After several hours of encouraging the nuts off the j bolts using both liquid wrench type spray and an impact wrench, I've still made little progress. I fear I may have to cut the bolts (I may succeed at cutting the nuts, however. Can anyone supply a pair of bolts should I need them? Not sure if they changed after the tank redesign, but my project is 1971. Thanks

I have an ongoing issue that I have run out of ideas trying to fix. I have a 73 240 with 72 carbs. The symptom is the following: when the engine compartment heats up enough, the engine begins to stumble at idle and sometimes eventually stalls. The rest of the time all is fine. For example, if I drive around the block a few times and then park in the garage and let it idle, and the air temp is above 60 degrees or so, after several minutes the idle will begin to slow down below 500 rpm and inconsistently change speed up and down. The exhaust will begin to smoke a bit as well. If I open the hood and let it idle within a few minutes all is well as things cool. Today I …
