has anybody tried this pump ? specs for carter is 4-6psi and 30gph and is also regulated . I am looking to replace my 25 year oil master pump and carry it for a spare so as not to need a hook if I break down when on the road. I do not see many different pumps posted here, I have seen some Airtex Carter 4070, and Holley red. just wondering if anybody tried this pump ? thanks

Hello all, Got a mechanical fuel pump block off plate, and need to get a new electric fuel pump. Was wanting to know what everone is using that has done this upgrade? I was planning on finding a Carter GP-4070, as listed on L-Series performance mods and enhancements site. Just wanted to get everyone's opinon on what worked best for them? The car has DGV Weber's in case that matters. Thanks for any help, or suggestions. Bryce

I recently noticed the gas hose that goes from the tank to the fuel pump rated 0.31 inch is beginning to crack. Should i consider replacing the hose and using other type of clamps to avoid this happening again?

Since I'm not restoring the Z to concours level, would these fuel line clamps be equal or better than the OE clamps? Just want to make sure! http://www.ebay.com/itm/FUEL-LINE-HOSE-CLAMPS-KIT-100-CLAMPS-ASSORTED-SIZES-/160324462453?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2554152775#ht_755wt_1122 Thanks

I have run out of ideas on this, car idles and cruises good, single gear WOT to redline 6k+ rpm is fine. Try to do it again and it cuts out. I have installed a wideband O2 to see what's going on and it's running lean but not right away. Here are some examples, all under WOT: 1st gear to 6k, AFR avg 12:1 -> 2nd gear starts cutting out at about 5k, AFR 18+:1 1st gear to 4.5k, AFR avg 12:1 -> 2st gear to 4.5k, AFR avg 12:1 -> 3rd gear cuts out almost instantly(3k?) 16~18+:1 Almost as if I'm sucking the carbs dry... Under half throttle my only issue is that it's not as fast ?. A balance between mid high throttle and earlier shifting can be found to g…

Hi: I am adjusting my floats using the method where the adjustment nut is turned down ten turns. After cranking the engine when I peer down into the hole I see that the fuel is low. If I'm correct I want to bend the tab down to allow more fuel? Additionally I haven't installed the cork gasket as I don't want to damage my new gaskets from repeated removal and install. How will the gasket (once installed) affect the fuel level? Will it go slightly higher or lower? My guess is that is will raise the lid and increase the fuel level? Thank you.

Hey guys, I'm trying to get access to Keith Franck's "white paper" on carbs, Keith has accepted me into the Sidedraft Central yahoo group but for some unknown reason I can't log in and read through the archives. Keith's advise was to try and get a new yahoo ID and I have done that but still no luck. I have tried everything....so wondering if any of the carb guys here can advise on how I can access all the great this info, has anyone downloaded this stuff? Thanks, Chris

I've rebuilt my carbs and am now reinstalling the pair on my '71. I should have taken better pictures! I am having difficulty properly installing all the the linkages. This thread has some good diagrams and even better pictures. But they are for the 510. I have the Factory Service Manual, I've search a number of forums but have not seen a picture or exploded diagram that will allow me to ensure that it is reassembled correctly. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks

I have an early 1971 Z with four-bolt round-top carbs. I am rebuilding both carbs. I was told by a number or sources that the Walker 15566 was the right kit. Imagine my surprise when I compared the provided float needle and seat to the original. It was about 0.25-inches shorter than the original, or at least the one that has been installed for at least 20 years! The shorter assembly would not allow the float height to be set correctly. Is this the wrong kit or am I missing something? I did pick up some OEM braided hoses for the connecting the float bowl to the body of the carb. Can anyone confirm that the originals were in-fact braided? Where do I go from here? …

Since getting my 240Z restoration safety checked, licensed and on the road, last fall I've put on about 200 miles. At times it has run well, but there have been too many other times. Back in August, it quickly, without warning started running rough. I pulled the plugs and they were all showing a lot of soot - running too rich. I cleaned them up, re-installed, and nothing changed. I've now put in a new set of plugs, started the engine with minimum choke, shut the choke off quickly, and ran the engine for 10 minutes. It idled OK; just a bit rough. Open the throttle and it really stumbled until it cleared 2,000 rpm. Beyond that, it sounded fine. Pulled the plug…

So most of this year I have been dealing with a fuel issue. I have done so much research and googles just to come up with dead ends and references to threads that don't seem to exist, so I am ready to ask! My 72 240z runs great, when it stays running. I can go out and fire it up no problem let it warm up and it idles pretty good and has good power everywhere. My problem is when I let the car sit at idle for longish periods of time. Say 5-10 minutes or so. I do this when I want to drive the car and I let it warm up in the driveway. Basically, it will start and run good. After a few minutes it dies. The fuel filter is empty and the carb bowls are dry. I can crank on it…
