I was looking to remove my carburetors for a rebuild. I have a friend who can help me rebuild them and show me a few things about carbs. Only problem is I have to go to him to do so. Since my Z is not on the road yet, so I would remove the carbs for this. I looked in the Haynes manual and they had no info on actually taking them out that I seen (granted I looked quick today before work). I was wondering if it was in the book "How to rebuild your OHC engine" or whatever the title is close to that. I am waiting for it to come in still to my local store on order. So basicly I am wondering if it is not in there are there any other places you would reccomend looking to for rem…

I was just wondering if it was ever a factory option for the 240Z with the L24 engine to have triples (webber, mikuni? etc) If so are there any documents to say so? Thanks

Hey All, I was wondering exactly how much air should be going through the Synchrometer. I have the adapter and the synch but no instructions. And the how to tune weber carbs book doesnt really go into specifics about using this thing. Thanks

My old carbs got nicked, so I got my hands on this pair. Just wondering what the fitting pointed to by the arrow below is for, as the old carbs (also 240Z items) did not have this? I'm still a newbie when it comes to carbs, so need to know what I should do? Should they be connected to anything? Thanks

Can anyone tell me the correct diameter of fuel hose to use from the fuel rail to the Round Top SU's on a 1972 240Z? Is it 5/16" (which seems a little too big) or 1/4" (which seems a bit small)? Thanks! Carl

So I ordered new main jets and needles from Ztherapy. After comparing the new jets to the old ones I found that the old ones were very worn, leading to the rich condition on my polished 4 screws. So I put in the new jets, but I couldn't get the new SM needles to seat right. I believe that the clearance between the needle base and the hole in the piston is slightly too big so when I tighten the set screw the needle gets cockeyed and makes the piston stick. I decided to use the needles from my rebuild kit instead. Now these needles need a bit of work to get in the piston, but I've done it before. The first one went in fine with a set of vice grips (barely scratched th…

I cleaned up and painted a 72 or 71 air cleaner that I got off e-bay with a K&N filter for $11.00 Anyway, it didn't come with bolts or screws, and the ones from my '73 cleaner are too short (I have round-top 3-screw carbs BTW). Can anyone take a pic of their setup and give me the specs on the screws/bolts so I can replicate? It woul dbe much appreciated :-)

I'm trying to swap on some 4 screw SUs that I finished polishing a while back and I can't get them lean enough. I set the needels in the piston correctly. I start off with the idle adj nut two full turns down, and the throttle adj screws 1.5 turns in. I end up with the idle adj nuts screwed in all the way, and the throttle adj screws out until they have no effect and the car is still running extremely rich! Anyone have any ideas??? Maybe worn throttle bushings?:sleepy:

Just wondering if there is a reasonable way to hook up nitrous with triple webers and a cannon intake?

Hey guys, I am picking up my first Z tommorow (I think anyhow) and had a question. I will be getting a '74 260Z and was wondering what the SU means when refering to carbs. I see it used all over the place but was curious what it stood for. I figure getting some of these acronyms out of the way now will kind of help out. Any others used around here a lot that I should look out for? I know on my other forum that I visit (Maxima.org) a few years ago we compiles a list, but I can not find anything like that here. SuDZ

Attached is a picture of one of the needles from my 72 SU carbs. I'm worried about the bend at the bottom. I was very careful lifting the cylinder out and don't think I did it, but I guess that how it happened probably doesn't really matter right now So what do I do now? Try to bend it back? Ignore it and put the carb back together after I clean it? Replace the needle? (I've heard that they are hard to get...) Daniel
