-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- i brought my car to a shop to have my carbs balanced and adjusted properly on my 71 240Z. he said he could also modify the carbs to give a little more power. he couldn't really explain to me that well he said. his english isn't that good but he said something about a 90 degree bend somewhere in the carbs that he would grind to make the flow more smooth and not so harsh a turn. anyone know what he could be talking about? oh and he mentioned something like "venturi"? any help would be appreciated. thanks.

I am debating on switching my current stock E88 intake manifold and balance tube with an E46 manifold and E41 tube on my bone stock 72. I have to admit part of me would like to get rid of the air pump and the rest of the associated plumbing and replace it with the cleaner setup that would include a set of headers. Has anyone here made a switch like the one I’m contemplating and regretted it?

Hello everyone, this is my first post here... I recently brought Alfa's 240Z and sadly also brought his carb problems. :\ A few weeks ago Alfa posted about the car's rough idling here, since then Alfa has done various things to it and I have replaced the plugs and will be getting it tuned to my altitude tommorow... but... the problems persist. I have a fairly limited technical knowledge and this is my first car without fuel injection but I suspect something must be rather wrong with the float in one of the carbs, the car runs terribly after using the choke, or idling for a few mins, and has recently started just dying when you put the clutch down into an intersection (the…

I guess that my abillity to open the hood led me to believe that I was a SU mechanic. No so. It started by attempting to fix a problem of the choke control light staying on. I pulled the air cleaner, loosened the two screws on the choke control wires (so far so good) and fiddled around until things got of whack. I got a few miles of driving until black smoke started appearing from the exhaust pipe and it finally died, in my driveway thankfully. It will not start even after sitting over night. Flooding badly I guess. Is there a short term fix for this that will get me to a guy in a long robe with stars on it, a tall pointy hat and a magic wand to cast a get well sp…

I have triple webers and when accelerating through a turn either left or right( such as a turn at an intersection) with some speed(doesn't take much), the engine starts cutting out(definitely feels like lack of fuel) and returns to normal after the turn. Could this be caused by fuel level being too low in bowl? What else is possible? Thanks, Victor.

I am trying to get a 73z started after 13 years of sitting and I have a few questions. 1. What oil do you put into the carbs the book calls for something called everyman oil. what the heck it that and what is the current replacement for it. 2. How much should I put in. There does not seem to be a measure stick or line on it. Please note that they are not dry just low on the oil. 3. I put a few gallons of new gas into the tank and sloshed it around then drained it out. Varnish city. I also pumped new fule through the fule lines to clean them out. 4. Any help in general with getting the car started would be of great help. Lordzot

Hi all,I'm getting ready to pull my '71 out of storage and I know the carbs are shot (or at least need a real good rebuilding) Question to all of you that may be in the know........are Z therapy's carbs worth the price? Anybody out there have them on their Z's?? If not is their rebuild kit the best out there? Who out there is the best rebuilder?? Thanks in advance for any information!! SKYPIG

Hi guys, Another problem, I think it's to do with the carbs, and I have a feeling its something to do with running rich... but I dunno After idling for a while (few minutes) my car goes up to 2000-2500 reasonably OK, but then splutters and chokes and has a hard time going any higher. Once he's being driven for a while it returns to normal and he'll rev freely. I was idling for a very long time on a slight decline and then drove off, only to be restricted by the car, which wouldn't go very fast at all - anyuthing above 2000 was sluggish and no power at all, I drove for a while (couple of kays) annoying everyone behind me, and then he ran perfect after that! What do you thi…

My '72 with stock L24 and SU's chronically runs rich. I know that there are many factors that can contribute to this. But, can the plug gap be set to eliminate some of this rich running? High end of the range?
