Do early 260z's need high pressure fuel lines? I'm replacing my fuel and breather lines. I picked a bunch up at my local Napa store, but then my dad asked me if the car needed high pressure lines... :stupid: Anybody know? Thanks!

i'm sure this has been beat to death but i'm new to the z forum. i'm working on a friends '72 240 and rebuilding the carbs. they are the hitatchi w46's. the question i have is about the needle and seat for the float bowl. the carbs had two different types. one was kind of short with a needle and a spring loaded insert. the other was longer but the needle had a solid pin which the float pushed up on. the carb kits i got from checker have two different part numbers but exactly the same parts in them(?). can i use the same needle and seat in both float bowls? why is one different from the other? is this a factory deal or sign these carbs have been screwed with befo…

I was looking at the ztherapy page and noticed their rebuild kits for my 72 roundtop SU carbs. The price was like $150 for the set for both carbs. Is it worth it? I'v seen rebuild kits for a lot cheaper then that else where, but seeing as this company is specific in SU carbs, I figured they know what their talking about. (Plus I'd like to have the video that comes with it) But I was just wondering if this is the rebuild kits you guys reccomend? I'm also looking at their ported intake for my 72 240z. However, I am wondering, I will be putting a new engine in my car soon, and its a fuel injected 81 280zx engine. I think the general concensious is to dump the fuel injection…

I have a stock L24 72 240z datsun. What carbs would be on it? I can take a picture if there is any question. What would be good for me. I want a little better performance, but I really want to stay on the cheap side of things for this car. What should I be looking into?

Hi guys, I picked up a 1973 240Z about six months back that i've been personally restoring back to a "tasteful" level. The previous owner was a wonderful japanese fellow who took marvelous care of the machine. The only problem i've had with it since its purchase is what i thought was a carb problem. It has dual 1971 SU's, installed to replace the faulty 73 carbs. They were "professionally tuned" a year ago, which is why i was surprised to notice bad fuel economy, dark, gas-smelling exhaust, some occasional sputters and other tell-tale signs of a rich mixture due to unsynched/misadjusted carbs. So i planned on getting it looked at - until the #1 Zcar pro in the area told m…

Volvo su's

I have installed Volvo hs6 su's to my Z. They seem to be very close to the original round tops. The bore is very close to the original. And the carbs fit straight in to old intakemanifold. I ordered needles and repair kits to my carbs from England(I live in Finland) Now they seem to be workinkg o.k exept that the car hesitates a litle when I go fast in to the corners. I got the idea of volvo carbs couple of years ago. I did some resurch and found out that there is a firm in australia that does the same thing. They sell rebuild Volvo su's that are modified to fit datsun. Check out www.sumidel.com

Seen that this topic was empty after 5 days, so here is a friendly reminder: RE: Those $15.00USD carb rebuild kits (actually, refresh kits as you don't get much!!!) that you get at PepBoys, NAPA, Advance; wherever; they always include some temptingly flexible fuel hose... DON'T USE IT. I was always tempted, as it is sooo soft and flexible, no chance of contributing to sticking chokes. But word was, don't use it as it melts from fuel over time. So I didn't. Well, turns out the local "Z guru" DID use one of them on one of my carbs when he replaced my floats and adusted for richness last summer. I just discovered it when I wondered why my fingers were getting black and g…

Anyone fitted Jaguar 2 inch SUs to their Datsun. I'm not sure what I have to change so that they run properly on my 260. I can modify the linkage fine but am not sure about needles. Thanks
