I need some help identifying these carbs, and finding a good rebuild kit for them. They are on my 73 240, and they don't match any of the descriptions and pics I've seen. Thanks!

Been working this morning to get my carbs tuned. The engine is a 2.9L with a Isky stage-2 cam, Dellorto DHLA40 carbs, Mallory Uni-Lite electronic distributor, using an adjustable timing light and external tach to tune. Fuel press. set at 2.9 PSI. Base timing set at 10 degrees BTDC, any lower and the car idles rough. Idle is set to 1k RPM. Would like to get it down to 800 RPM if possible. Car seems to run very strong in the higher RPM range. Symptoms - while at idle the middle and rear carb will occasionally cough/pop. This happens more on the front throat of the rear carb. While driving, I can feel the transition from the idle circuit to the main circuit, lik…

My curiosity is getting the best of me so I decided to ask the experts here.... maybe I am brain dead and missed something, I have searched on this site and cannot find any explanation. Q1) What is the Right Lever for on this 240z choke assembly? Q2) Is it specific to a Year? Many thanks...

Any one have any feedback on the following rebuild kits for round-tops? Victoria has aftermarket (I presume) kits for $20 per carb. MSA has kits that are (supposedly) OE Nissan for $28 per carb. ZTherapy's "tune-up" kit is $120 exchange for the pair. Other options? I'm leaning towards the MSA kits, as the ZT package seems to be more than I need (includes their video and SM needles, both of which I can live without at this time).

Started mocking up my DIY heat shield using a cereal box as a starting point. I want to ensure there is enough room for the linkage on the bottom to fully operate. To do this, I believe I need to mount the heat shield using in between the intake manifold and the rear of the carb. However, this presents some challenges as I am using a soft mount kit for the carbs. If I try to mount it to the front face of the carb I will have to cut some pretty big V notches to clear everything. For those that have done this, how did you do it? The manifold is a Interpart piece and the carbs are Dellortos. Thank you!

Carb Balance

I am trying to balance the carbs on my '71. I warmed up the engine. Then I set the jets so they were flush to the bottom of the carbs and turned them both so they were flat with the bottom of the carbs. I backed off the idle on each carb so the adjustment knob was not touching the linkage. I also loosened the linkage so it wouldn't interfere with each carb and they could respond independently. The car has about 62k miles on it and it runs and drives nice. When I have the car running and look in the throat of the carbs, the front piston is much higher than the rear carb. Maybe by 1/2 inch. When I install a syncrometer to the front carb, the air draw is off the cha…

I have a 73 240-Z. Restoration getting out of hand, but I shall see it through. We dropped the gas tank and have the interior panels out. I am wondering what items can be eliminated completely or closed off with plugs, etc. There is a tank in the cargo area on the right side that is probably useless...maybe some of the gas tank fittings as well. I am running earlier SU carbs but have a new set of Weber downdraft carbs to install if they are a better bet. All comments appreciated...Ryals in north Georgia

I have a set of 1971 4 bolt carbs and it seems that my oil level in both never stay full. drive for several hundred miles and check the level and both are all ways just a little below the low mark on the damper plunger. like just above the round brass part on the plunger, is this normal for them to be at that level . thanks

Anyone know who owns the car or better yet, where he got this set up. It was parked on the side street, white with a carbon fiber hood. That set up is just too cool.

Greetingz! Since starting my Z recently - after 10-15 years of mostly sitting - it hasn't been idling well. At first I tried starting the car on 10-15 year old gas and quickly discovered the fuel line was clogged because the tank was full of rust. The gas tank has been cleaned/treated, and I'm using fresh 91 octane fuel. The first indication it was a rear-carb problem was that starter fluid had almost no effect on the rear carb. Then gas came out of the rear-bowl overflow; I rapped the bowl with a screwdriver handle, that stopped the gas pouring out, but the next time I pulled off the air-cleaner, there was gas pooled at the bottom of the carb's air-inlet. Motor run…

240Z Weber Carbs 45 Choking We dont have no flow to the main jets. We only have idle. You step on the gas and it dies. Unless you pump it then it works. Any ideas?
