In tinkering with my linkage for a few days (read as weeks) I thought I would try to compile a list of things to do while setting up a triple carburetors linkage. This list is not at all perfect, and could and should be edited, but should be enough to get your carbs running well and sync’ed up. This will NOT go into jetting, as there are a bazillion threads on that. This has everything to do with getting the mechanical linkage as reliable as possible. These instructions assume you have a proper working Engine and carbs. Leaky carbs and vacuum leaks can throw you into a world of pain and frustration we that dare not venture into. So let us start some simple tools: …

Not sure if this falls under the “better mouse trap” or “new can of worms” heading but it seems worth knowing about ... https://roundtopsfuelsystems.com/

Here's an image to wake you screaming in the night -- a pair of 2-barrel SU carbs! These are the DU6 as used on the Climax engine of a 1957 Cooper T43. If that ain't enough to make you sweat, there was also a triple configuration ? The image is a screen capture from Motor Trend's coverage of the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion.

Since I'm restoring the 240 and hope to be installing these Webers in a year or so, what is the best method for storing the carbs? I have the tops, was just inspecting them. Thanks guys.

Hi all I just went through the work of rebuilding these twin carbs, these have the floats in the bottom, and the power valves on the sides..... Still runs rich, so i reversed the rubber gasket on the power valve, lowered the needle valve all the way down. Runs better but needs plenty of choke when cold. No black smoke like before, i have since read that these carbs were crap and recomended using the previous years carbs. Anyone had the same problem.

Has anyone ever seen two adjacent cylinders, on two different carbs, foul in an identical manner and in the same amount of time? While leaving the others clean (except for one that's half dirty)? It's an odd thing that might mean something to someone. It's from the poor-idle-when-hot problems on our Panama member's 204Z with ZTherapy SU's. This picture, apparently, comes from six brand new plugs installed, engine started and allowed to run for ten minutes, then plugs pulled. Is there anything carb intake system related that could cause fuel-fouling like this? Has anyone seen such a dramatic difference between cylinders like that? So clean, next to so dirty, a…

Yesterday I drove my 240Z up to a car show and all was well. Didn't win anything, but I did meet some fun folks. When I went to leave I pulled the choke and could tell the lever was no longer attached to the cable. Today I opened up the console to find that a "micro" screw had come loose that then disconnected the lever from the choke cable. Once I got into it I couldn't see how I would put things back together! You'll notice in the attached image there's a BOLT that goes through a "Y" in the choke lever that has a sleeve around it and a little retainer to hold the loop in the cable so the cable can be both pulled to apply the choke and pushed to disengage the choke. That…

I have what must be a fuel delivery problem. When I bought my z it had a holly red field pump that puts out a boat load of psi which fed the stock mechanical fuel pump. This combination resulted in frequent flooding of my carbs. So while it was in the ship for a new clutch the mechanic bypassed the old mechanical pump. This is ran great, cold but would flood badly and stall following warm starts. I thought over this setup and thought about how much I would prefer a ago k setup. Plus there was no inertial switch to kill fuel flow when the engine died. This morning I disconnected the power to the Holly electric pump. Then I installed a fresh mechanical pump and…

I just picked up my first 240Z in 20 years and this one has a Arizona Z Car intake with the Holley 390 CFM 4 barrel carb. The car has a noticeable stumble off idle and a lack of low end. It seems to do OK at higher RPMs but it seems sluggish compared to what I remember my old Z to be. I've read a lot on this site about the AZ/Holley combo and it seems that some love it and some hate it. Are there any tuning tips for this set up? I have no experience with the holley carb so I don't know where to start. Previous owner said it has been performing that way since install. I would like to put SUs back on but its financially not in the cards now. Thanks for any help!
