I have several questions regarding the precise fuel pressure both of the 3 screws round SU CARBS on my 240z will tolerate as i am pushing the fuel through an AIRTEX 8012S which is rated 5 to 9 PSI: 1. Should i measure the fuel pressure plugging a "T" before the front carburetor? 2. Should the pressure read no more tan 4.3 psi? 3. What if the pressure reads more than this limit but does not show any spill out of the fuel bowls? Will i need to open both fuel bowls and reset the level. THis was done by Ztherapy in 2014 and i would not like to mess with it.

Hey guys, I'm curious is a triple SU setup for an L24 worth the bother?? There's a manifold and some roundtops to go with it up for sale and I'm curious as to whether it would actually be worth the time and money and if so, how much would you pay for such a thing?

Just got the new fuel sending unit for my 240Z. Looks kind of long. Do you need to drop the tank to get this rascal in or can it be finagled into the tank while it is in place?

Bruce Palmer, Z Therapy, made the comment on another thread about how effective the original airbox is on the Z, especially if you extend the air intake to the front of the radiator to draw in cooler air to both carbs. This made me rethink my current set up (K&N tuna cans) and put some thought to some plumbing ideas to make the original airbox arrangement more effective. Living in the desert heat makes me sensitive to improving the airflow to my SUs! Would those of you with customized cold air intake setups with the original airbox care to display your work? Any ideas on companies that provide the best setups? Open to any thoughts on this. Thanks!

Ok, I finally got the beast started...definately a home run for the night, but now I have a different situation. When I start the car, the engine revs very high and stays that way. I have twin SU's on a 1973. This is the first time starting since removing all the smog equipment. I have never worked on an SU carb before but I can tell you that the piston inside the carb is all the way "down". If I manually move the piston up, the engine revs slow considerably and then the engine dies. What am I missing?? I have filled the carbs with SAE20 wt oil and inserted the dampner rods as described in the haynes (useless) book. When the dampner rods are screwed in, it is pret…

I have read that the twin Hitachi SU carbs in our cars can only handle 4 PSI from the electric fuel pumps. My mechanic recommends swapping my electric fuel pump with a Facet Silver Top and regulator: https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productdetails.asp?RecID=85 I am really aiming at a noiseless or very silent fuel pump that will keep on pumping gas even when decelerating at corners. Is the above fuel pump recommended for a 240z?

Hi, Can someone tell me what is the value for that set up. I put the hand of a complete set up with intake, carbs, jets, air filters and stack. Those we're running this summer so in good condition. Not sure I will need such a high performance set up. Probabbly stay with my SU. Thanks in advance, Joce

Hey guys, I don't post much here since I'm no mechanic, and there are so many more knowledgeable folks out there, but I had an experience today (and about 20 years ago) that I wanted to relate since I didn't see anything about it when I did a search. Problem: your carbureted 240Z cuts out / stalls suddenly when you're driving around, usually shortly after your fuel goes below 1/2 tank. Otherwise, at the beginning of your drive, it starts up just fine, seems to run fine. But get below 1/2 tank, and at some point it just cuts out, stalls, and refuses to re-start. Cranks over fine, but won't fire. You check the simple things. Spark and fuel. Spark looks ok. Check the fuel…

I did a trade with a dude from CA... He sent me set of triple webbers and manifold. Only downside is that THIS IS NOT MATCHING TRIPLET :mad: Is it anyway possible to run with this setup or should i just resell these as matching pair + one..?? All of them are 40mm. Edit: dont mind about that booklet it came with the package!

The problem first manifested after it sat for about 3 weeks. I took it to dinner one evening and it uncharacteristically stalled at a light. After dinner, it stalled again, but was very hard to start back up. I later probably fixed this problem when I was chasing the follow-up problems when I replaced the condenser. At this point It will start like I am switching on a light. It will also idle ( Fairly smoothly at that). It will not even consider a slight throttle-up. It chokes very quickly as if to stop, but as I return the Throttle to idle. I idles smoothly again. I cannot even idle-up at the set screw. It's crazy. Below is a list of the actions that I have alre…

I just installed a Holley electric fuel pump on my '71, and am having minor second thoughts about where I mounted the thing. (But I don't know how else I could mount one.) I drilled and tapped two 6mm holes in one of the brackets that holds the trailing end of the rear A arms and mounted the pump there. By the way, that bracket must be made out of spring steel, because it is hard as hammered $%&&! The instructions that came with the pump specified that it had to be mounted vertically, with the motor above the pump itself. Holley also wanted the pump mounted lower than the tank, but there was no way I was going to leave it hanging down below the suspension. I al…
