The resurrection project is not even close to getting into the engine department yet, but I have an opportunity to pick up a 4 bbl ARIZONA intake manifold at a very reasonable price. All of the original injector parts are in very rough shape-purchased the project car that had been off the road for almost 20 years-and I know all the components will need to be replaced. Just some questions about the conversion. Would it be less expensive, less complicated? What do you do with the ECU component and wiring? What type of lower pressure fuel pump would be required? What about all the fuel and vapor return lines to the tank? Any helpful comments will be greatly apprec…

I already watched the Just SU DVD and still have some queries on how to tune both Hitachi SU Carbs on my 240z. The procedure i am following is: 1. Remove air cleaner box 2. Verify each piston moves freely 3. rotate both idle mixture knob until it seat counterclockwise 4. rotate both idle mixture knob 2 full turns clockwise. 5. Crank the engine with the choke on for 3 minutes until it warms up 6. fully unscrew the fast idle screw 7. fully unscrew the balance mixture screw which is besides the rear carburetor 8. set the rear and front carburetor at 800 RPM using the idle screw on each carburetor and measure with the unysis that the ball is raising to the middle in both ca…

So I just installed my new fuel filler neck with a genuine Nissan hose. The new one was significantly longer than the old one (3+ inches). The new one fits great, just curious if anyone has run into this before? I'm hoping this will resolve my gas smells as I've already replaced all the vent hoses! Trying to adjust the carbs per the article http://www.nicoclub.com/archives/2-write-ups-on-tuning-su-carbs.html......problem I seem to be having on the rear carb when adjusting the mixture (starting from 2.5 turns from the top, per the manual) is that the motor doesn't respond when I lift the piston. I've turned it out past the 2.5 turns and still no response. Also tried it from only one turn from the top and get the same thing. Also, spark plugs are wet & black so I know it's running rich. Front carb responds normally to piston being lifted. Any suggestions on trouble shooting the rear carb? Thanks!

I am thinking of replacing my original metal fuel rail with a rubber hose or else as a modern approach to combat vapor lock. I already have the heat shield extensions covering the bottom of my SU CARBS fuel bowls thus isolating the heat from the manifold. What will be the recomendable replacement for the metal fuel rail that is fastened to the engine?? Any pictures? measures and routing?

i read what seems to be quite a few threads where vapor lock seems to be the problem. has anyone thought that the fuel line runs right down the transmission tunnel just a few inches above the exhaust pipe for 4-5 feet. seems sitting in traffic this might be a perfect place for vapor lock to start. has anyone ever tried wrapping the exhaust or some type of shield around the fuel line in the trans tunnel? just some thoughts............

Here's a link to an article in EngineBuilder.com that provides some great insights into the difference between the fuels that are sold today vs. those which were the standard back in the day when the original Z's were designed and used... http://www.enginebuildermag.com/2013/11/impact-of-todays-fuels-n-carbureted-engines/ Among other things, there are some interesting points raised about fuel volatility and ethanol drop-out and the implications these fuel characteristics have for long-term (or even shorter-term) storage of vehicles with vented fuel systems. The EngineBuilder.com site looks like a great resource for owners who like to pursue p…

Hi Guys, So I have a small pin hole in my gas tank. The local radiator shop said they can fix it but they no longer coat the inside of the tank. They said they stopped due to the coating ruining the lines over the years. Any thoughts on this? Thanks!

Hi, My car was in the garage and I ran it out of fuel starting it to keep the battery charged. This has happened before and is always such a pain in the a** as I usually have to take the whole fuel line apart back to the tank to get the fuel to the carbs. Its like the fuel pump will not pull the fuel once it runs dry (air pocket?) . It does not have the pump by the tank just the one on the engine. In the past I have sucked the fuel into the lines with an extra piece of fuel line and did this to draw it up to the engine. Anybody have an idea why the fuel pump wont draw the fuel from the tank - it now has fuel in it. And / or an easier way to get the fuel to the…
