Hey so as you can see the black smog/balance tube has been hacked and chopped (its a junk yard build). My plan is to take off the rail completely and cap off the intake runners leaving only the booster vacuum hose on the rear intake runner. Then attach the crank case hose to the intake filter housing and plug all the exhaust manifold holes. Would this work or do i need to weld a tube connecting the two runners?

Hi everyone- Can anyone tell me if there is or should be some type of valve to prevent fuel from draining back to the tank when the car sits? It seems that since last fall, when i put 72 SU's on my 260 & replaced the mechanical fuel pump (it leaked), when the car sits for any extended time (like overnight)- my fuel flows back to the tank. So I must crank the engine quite a bit to pump gas back up into the engine compartment before it will start (or so it seems). When the car has run recently, it fires immediately. I have noticed when i am under the hood at times, i can hear some sort of noise from the mech fuel pump area, like there is vacuum from the fuel flowing b…

Any easy method of checking the fuel level in the float bowls of 3 screws round top SU CARBS? My car runs great at high speed but at idle it does not perform correctly.

I apologize for not looking too far into this forum but just to make things quicker... I own a '71 240Z with an L28 using triple webers. I was wondering if anyone has any hints or pictures showing the easiest way to hook up the choke cables. Thanks everyone.

Howdy! I have a 260z with 4screw SU's, im using a choke cable out of a 73" 240z and i find that the cable tends to bind, I really have to yank the crap outta the cable and it does not move much. I came across this video: and this guy has such a smooth movement of the choke! Is that because the choke is a different year? Has anyone replaced the choke with a non-oem replacement? I've not been able to find information about this. Regards,

Hello, I purchased a dual choke cable grommet/boot for my 1972 240z. I've done some console repairs specifically around the choke cable lever mechanism. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to install the grommet/boot? From the end of the cable attached to the carb? This would require removing the boot and crimps right?

I put an Art Singer choke mount in and adjusted the cable ends at the carbs with the console out of the car. I installed the console a few months ago and the choke lever hit the console before "full choke". I took it back out thinking I needed to move the mount further up but it appears to be dead on per the instructions. Would it be okay to loosen the cable ends on the carbs and pull them out a little more? I'm thinking I can pull them out until right before they start to actuate the linkage on each carb then tighten the screw on the little barrels that hold the cables. Is it that simple or am over thinking this? That console is very fragile and expensive so I …

I am looking for a choke cable holder that bolts to the valve cover and holds twin SU carb choke cables. Anybody have a spare and willing to give/sell? PM me please! Thanks

My rear choke is coming on ok when i pull back my lever, but the front one does not move, although i can push up on the linkage at the carb and the nozzle will pull down. What should i look for to repair this? Is it a case of a broken cable, or could the cable be binding up? Alos can you still get OEM cable? I have heard bike cable is not the best thing to use. This is just one thing i'm trying to fix in my ongoing saga, for more details look at the thread"rust in gas bad running now". Thanks folks!!

I live in sunny Southern California. It rarely gets below 50 degrees F where I live. Currently working on getting my 71 back on the road. Right now I’m going through the engine bay. Maybe a dumb question, but can I simply remove my choke cables and run without? Thoughts? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

the unisyn i have did not have the tiny holes fully drilled in. i drilled all the way and it now works. i just finished balancing the carbs. my only problem now is that when i pull on the choke cable, the motor wants to die or it just stalls. i've been having this problem before carb balancing too. it does the same thing even if it's cold outside. this is for an SU round top. i'll get pictures up asap. i have searched online alot and i can't seem to find anything. any answer would help alot. thank you!
