Thanks Bruce for the clever trick of using rubber around an SU needle to gently hold it in a vise to remove (when stuck)!!! Worked like a charm... I just used the fuel hose as the rubber buffer. @Captain Obvious

I need some help. I have fiddled with cars for the past 5 years but it has mostly been on newer models, like jeeps and broncos. mostly suspension and body work. i recently bought a 260z. it runs and drives fine but it smells really rich driving down the road. it doesn't bog down or loose power at any rpm. i never really messed with carbs before. i Have a haynes manual and i tried fiddling with the air fuel mixture screws but it didn't really do much. I like to think if i tuned it right i can get some more power out of it. also i wont be choking on fumes. Side note i bought it in colorado and brought it back to new mexico. should i re-jet it? if so it didn't tell me how. A…

I have an extra set of 3-screw roundtop SU's from a '72 240z, along with the E88 manifold/spacers, balance-tube, linkage, heat shield, and K&N filters that I'm looking to sell in the near future. They've been rebuilt with the ZTherapy rebuild kit (needles, gaskets, nozzles, etc) and cleaned up very well. They're not show quality, but they're very nice looking and perform very well. I've been running them on my '72 to ensure they're properly tuned. Basically a good setup for someone looking to convert from flat-tops or EFI over to round-tops. What is the current going rate for a setup like this? Just wondering if its worth keeping them or selling them. Th…

Any suggestions on how to unplug? Searched and some folks said compressed air, tired that from either end disconnected from the tank and the rail, nada. Someone else mentioned small wire. Where you getting piano wire from, hobby store?

So I had reason to read a book on SU tips and tricks a couple of weeks ago, and came across an interesting tidbit that I need to share. It talked about piston movement and how venturi vacuum makes it move according to load. Great. Then they mention the special case where the piston is all the way down, like at idle, or at startup when the flow rate is so low that the DeltaP over the bridge hasn't gotten high enough so that the pressure diff can't move it yet. The piston has to be held mechanically slightly off the bridge to allow SOME air to get through. How is this accomplished? WIth this apparently long forgotten item on the bottom of every piston. …

I have a 12/70 71 240z that i bought recently that runs like crap. I do not know the past history of the car or the past owners so I'm starting with a running car that runs, but not great. I have been replacing old parts these last few weeks and in the middle of a tune up. Removed funky electric fuel pump and switched back to a mechanical pump, new fuel filters, new spark plugs and wires, ign cap and rotor, I have not yet done a compression test on the motor. I have fuel going to the carbs and can start the car by pulling the manual choke when cold like normal, but after the car warms up and I open the choke fully the car starts to idle rough and dies out almost like …
