Im replacing/refurbishing my Datsun Competition exhaust and im not sure I can replicate the exhaust sound. Old exhaust is rusting apart so I think its time to save what I can and replace what I dont think is worth the effort. Heres what the complete exhaust looks like: Then this happened Top glasspack broke off! Not only was the glasspack a 2in inlet to a 1.5in outlet(already impossible to find) but the interior looks completely different than the modern glasspacks. Modern: Original https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-QtZ2x3NiWQw/UYunJpST29I/AAAAAAAALFA/2gjvkhMrIBM/w903-h677-no/IMG_1640.JPG Is there any way for me to get the hornets back in my car?

Recently, prior to installing Honda S2000 seats into my 240Z, I stripped out my interior to install B-Quiet sound deadening and new carpet under pad. When I pulled back the transmission tunnel vinyl I was surprised to find that the original factory sound deadening tar pad had actually blistered from the heat generated by my exhaust system (the specs on my of my exhaust system can be reviewed here, http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/help-me/12474-header-problem.html, post #18). I knew that on long trips, the transmission tunnel used to get very warm, but I had no idea the transmission tunnel got that hot! I believe the culprit was the Dynomax Bullet Race Muffler (WLK-2423…

My original exhaust is sorely in need of replacement. Is there a muffler and pre-muffler available that replace the original with a stock look and sound?

My 1972 240z was previously modified with this twice pipe exhaust system which is loud as hell: I want to go back to stock so i can use my car as a daily driver and not a racing machine. Just as a normal sedan. Is this what i need to purchase and have installed: Motorsport! MSA Premium Exhaust System, 70-8/74 240Z-260Z (for 6-1 Headers) - The Z Store! Nissan-Datsun 240Z-260Z-280Z-280ZX-300ZX(Z31/Z32)-350Z-370Z Parts or i will only have to buy the exhaust muffler??? Motorsport! Performance Stainless Steel Muffler - The Z Store! Nissan-Datsun 240Z-260Z-280Z-280ZX-300ZX(Z31/Z32)-350Z-370Z Parts Can someone please guide me on what i really need?

Again, we just had to make it! we spent time and money to reproduce this beautful piece of art for stock Datsun 240z cars. As it is shown in the picture here, it looks even better than original. This one is better seamless pipe design, compare with original hand pressed, rolled, and welded design. This pipe is handcrafted to look identical to original muffler tip for Datsun 240Z cars. Chrome is much better quality with todays technology. Very small quantity is available for limited production And I do not think we will be making a large quantity of them. (too expensive!) $175-free shipping for US main island/$28 for international shipping If anyone is interest…

So I recently purchased a 1971 240z. It's in pretty good condition but I am in the process of restoring it completely. One issue I am having with the car is the very strong exhaust fumes. They are pretty bad and get into the cabin. Now I have read all the current threads so I know about making sure everything is sealed tight in the cabin. I just put on an the inner hatch seal and have the tail light gaskets on the way in the mail. The old ones are the originals and torn to pieces. All other hatch seals are already in place. The problem is not only the smell inside the cabin but outside as well. I notice people driving behind me will switch lanes because of how bad the sm…

Hey guys! Recently bought a 76 280z. It was pretty clear the car had a bad exhaust leak, which I was hoping would be as simple as a gasket. Unfortunately after removing the manifold I discovered a crack. I can't seem to find replacement stock manifolds anywhere, and the few stock options I did see seemed to be around 650 dollars. The MSA 6-1 headers appear to work fine for around 230, But the shape seems off. They are longer with a different shaped flange at the end? My guess is that they connect under the cab rather than where the old manifold connected. Unfortunately the car is at a relatives until I can get it running again. I do not have the time nor money for a full …

I have a 1975 280Z and I am trying to find out the best way to improve performance and the exhaust note. It sounds like it is not easy to properly install a header without using several gaskets for the in-line 6 motor to avoid leakage. Please share any experience regarding this issue.

I just replaced the head gasket on my FI 1976 and now I'm putting things back together. I'm wondering, if I go with the MSA ceramic headers, which supposedly decreases radiant heat by 40%, do I still need to put that ugly heat shield back under the intake manifold? To me, part of the attraction of headers besides flowing better and being lighter than the cast iron manifold, is they look nice, but with the stock heat shields, you can't see much of them. Thanks Gary

Looking to replace my current exhaust system. Appears to be a shoddy header (6 into 1) with rust and flaking and a msa booger welded together exhaust. Its loud, and drones like crazy at 3k and above, right where I cruise. I'm looking to replace the headers with a 3-2-1 ceramic coated system from MSA, and the performance exhaust system. I may get a muffler shop to do the last bit however, as I am thinking of replacing the muffler with something a bit quieter, or with less drone, and a cutout at the end of the collector. Anyone ever done this? Anyone see any major issue for me here? The exhaust should still flow the same, only more muffled, the headers should provide more…

I am replacing my gasket for my header leak and was wondering If I need split lock washers. I did not see any on the MSA Manifold Nut & Stud Kit. I tried searching here but getting mixed answers as to the proper way. How do you torque the nuts on the lower ones that you cant even get a torque wrench on? Are they all accessible with a socket wrench? I'm thinking I can only use an open end to get to those nuts. Do I need to take the thermostat housing off to get to bolts underneath?
