now i havent put the center console in yet but each time i drive the car, very short trip, i smell of gas. Everything has been redone professionally. New carbs, headers, exhaust etc... How likely is it its all b/c of the center console? I am thinking got to be more to it that just that.

Pulled out a long stored 240z couple days ago, to look underneath, noticed the paper tag part number still intact in front side of muffler. It is painted black, so it definitely has been replaced at some time. Curious to opinions concerning saving the Paper tag or let it burn off with heat over time . Basically asking if ever in a judged show, would it hurt or help in “stock” class? David

Hi all, I just put a Dynomax SuperTurbo 17733 on my stock 280 and it is noticeably quieter than the (what turned out to be magnaflow) muffler that was sawed off. I took a look under the car (no cat) and I believe the below is a resonator (correct me if I'm wrong). Do these need to be removed when using the SuperTurbo muffler? The car is almost EV quiet after swapping the magnaflow with this.

Hi all! Has anyone ordered from ZStory lately? I talked with Sean back in March, pleasure to talk with, very knowledgeable, love his exhaust work. Placed my order and immediately sent him $. He said ETA was maybe in May and I wanted to confirm so I can plan my work on the car over next few months. Haven't heard from him since. Sent txts, emails and no response. Anyone else have any luck? Sean, if you're out there, give me a shout! Thanks! Bill *This is NOT a bashing of Sean or ZStory, just concern.

I finally decided to install headers on my Z, the MSA 6-1's. I had their Performance Exhaust ordered too, but cancelled that after deciding I wanted a resonator, and didn't like the rear muffler u-bolt mount setup. So, going to drive it 10 miles up the freeway open exhaust to a good shop to get finished up. Here's a few pics. Here's what I'm starting with, which all has to come off: Here's the monstrosity to be removed. I've tried to keep this car pretty much stock, but removed the smog pump a few years ago which helped it run better. So now a header, since the exhaust pipes are getting a few pinholes. Figure if I'm doing the exhaust, may as well go …

Greeting ladies and gents just an observation and hope to learn more. I notice my Honda Odyssey van 2014 with 3.5 litters engine release exhaust at tailpipe noticeable less “air” than my Z with 2.8 litters I exasperate a little bit is that the air output from Z’s tailpipe is like leaf blower and the air from odyssey’s like hair drier if you will. The Z’s tailpipe about 2” and odyssey about 2.5” or so What gives? Modern cars has better recirculate and recycle exhausts? regards

Please help me identify the exhaust pipe shield in the attached photos. (I do not know if it is even for a Datsun Z!!!) I obtained several used parts from a foreign car repair center several years ago. The owner could not verify the application for the exhaust pipe shield. Thanks, Keith

I read a couple of threads, but didn't find my situation. I have an L28 (N47 head) in my 240Z. Can I put a square hole exhaust manifold from a 240Z on the round hole N47 head? If so, will it bolt right on. ADVICE REQUESTED: I have a header on the L28 right now, but the heat is extreme. Here IMO are my three options: Wrap the header (about $80) Have it ceramic coated (about $300) Remove header and install the 240Z manifold (if it will work) ($0) What are your thoughts? Cost is not really the issue, but thought I'd share costs.

I had to fully remove my stock manifold in order to replace the 3 studs that bolt to the downpipe of the MSA Exhaust kit. Anyhow, I was wondering if replacing this stock manifold with a ceramic coated header will solve my fuel percolation issues? How much difference in temperature between the stock manifold and the ceramic coat headers? Any pros and cons? How about issues during traffic jams? http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic19c/15-6012CH This one looks amazing! Maybe it could radiate less heat than the stock manifold. Any cons???

Could some of you that have the thermal coated header from MSA tell me whether or not you use the heat shields. I'm trying to make a decision on this and would appreciate your advice/opinions. Thanks, Cliff.

Hi Guys, Need a little help understanding scavenging and the impact of changing pipe size through an exhaust setup. Is there a negative or positive impact to reducing exhaust pipe diameter after a header collector? Context: I have a stock 1977 280z with L28 and no modifications. I will be installing a new exhaust later this year. I have an MSA 6-1 which features a 2.5" collector and am planning on buying a Zstory muffer which also features a 2.5" inlet. I read on the forums that for an unmodified setup, the 2" or 2.25" setup is ideal for torque due to scavenging/velocity and that 2.5" may have a positive impact on high RPM HP, but at the expense of m…

Hey guys, just wanted to check and see if anyone has previously installed a Fujitsubo exhaust only to have it hit the rear control arm? I have the Fujitsubo Legalis R Exhaust System installed on my 1972 240z. I recently had installed after I got my car restored but I have a nasty rattle from the rear. I lifted the car to check and turns out my exhaust is hitting the control arm when vibrating. Trying to figure out how to sort it out. Considering denting my exhaust but wanted to see if anyone else ran into this issue as well.
